When I first got my heli, I would hover my FlightPowers until the ESC actually started to pulse the throttle, very low pack voltage. I still have one of the two packs, one died in a tree VS T-Rex incident, and it is still running strong with no puffing.

This appeared in another forum/thread, but is way off topic so I brought it here...

OK, thats exactly what I've been doing... newbie hover practice till it pulses.

I thought thats what it the pulsing was for. doh! But when I take the pack off the bird, it's barely warm, and reads 10.5 volts. (FP pack) Shouldn't that be ok?

IIRC it depends on what the cut off is set to on the ESC.

I think as long as you land ASAP when the pulsing starts there shouldn't be damage as long as you have your ESC set to High or Mid Voltage Protection. I run my 450 at mid protection, and it starts to cut at about 11.1V. I run my 600 at High protection, and it cuts out at about 22.4-22.6V.

Of course seeing as how this is the ESC telling you the battery has hit its safe discharge limit it's probably good practice to try to shut down before you reach this point as it wouldn't take much to push it over the limit.
