Very nice do you have a link to a page with some instruction on what to do on the inside or did you just get in there and start probing with a volt meter?
Thanks, Noah

Yeah heres the link http://www.rcbatteryclinic.com/ the instructions are all the way at the bottom left of the page, they make it sound really complicated, basicaly the yellow and back wires are the 12v. and on mine to make the fan run all the time I had to splice a green wire to a black wire, be carefull the wires are "HOT". I grabeed 3 black and 3 yellow wires for this 1. I'm building another power supply right now and I'm getting fancy with it, I will post some pics when I'm done.

Wow! I JUST did the same thing to one tonight! :) I will be doing a second just like it soon and will get more pics of the process. Works great!

Nice but be carful you don't pull too many amps. A mate converted one to run his xbox 360 after the original power supply gave out, didn't last very long befor going into melt down.

if you read the sticker on the side of the ps it will tell you how many amps it can pull.
i use a brand new 480w 20+4 dual fan atx power supply. it says that the yellow 12v wires can supply 16amps.. i let a guy at the lhs charge a 4s pack on it and it did just fine. i use mt and trex sized packs and it works like a charm...best part it only cost 24 bucks, and took less then 5 minutes to get the soldering done and a pack charging..at some point im going to get a ps ment for rc stuff. but untill the need is there, im happy...

That looks really nice. I'm going through my used power supplies to see if I have a 500watt laying around. These are so handy. plus I can set my battery on top of the fan while charging and keep it cool.

Man, I tried doing this a couple of weeks ago, but it wouldn't put out any real power. I didn't try putting a load on the 5 volt line. I should have figured this was required since the ATX is a smart supply.

Yeah, I actually prefer the older style power supplies for this. If you got an ATX its wire splicing time.

its not the bad on atx ps's... locate the one and only GREEN wire, cut it, solder it to a black ground wire. thats it.
i get a steady 11.8v out of my ps. i didnt have to do any anything else. just soldered the green wire to a black ground wire, then soldered in my plugs for the charger..
and yes my garage needs to get swept up and pressure washed..

Don't!!
Instantly you'll feel the need to use a ashtray that is always missing somehow... :rolling

Does concrete have the same effect on lipo's that it does dry cell battery's? Oh yeah my new power supply is good for 9amps.

i didnt know it has an effect on dry cell batterys. mine are only ont he floor long enough for them to charge.. its the safesty place i can charge and keep a eye on them

I have PC power supply I did the same thing to. It works great for my little 4s packs but can't cut it on my 10s Lipos.

have you tryed 6s and 8s packs on it ?

I'm not sure if its possible but some of the smaller voltage lines put out allot more amps than the 12v lines do, such as the 5v puts out 25amps so its its possible to somehow create like 15v out of that, theres some great possibilities. Oh BTW concrete sucks the charge right out of allot of batteries.

i dont know about the smaller lines putting out more amps, i just chekced tho and yes they do. but are you really going to need 25+amps...since im dealing with electrical stuff im just going to stick with what works.. if i have the need for 25+ amps im just going to go buy a real ps ment for rc use

No just 3s, 4s & 10s packs. My 10s 5000mah packs being charged at 1C is 5.00amps. My PC power supply will only put out enough juice to charge at 3.50amps on my 10s pack. It's slow but works. Kgfly knows way more than me about all this and maybe he will chime in.
