Would this motor work in a foam or balsa electric plane. I'm sure it could be made to work.
would you just bolt a prop on it or would it take some kinda gearbox?http://www.hobbypeople.net/gallery/165370.asp
Thanks

It would need a greabox. 3600kV means on a 3S lipo you would be turning it at about 36,000 RPM, a bit high for direct drive, unless you run VERY small prop.

If I use a 2 cell lipo that would take the motor rpm down 1/3 im guessing, so the rpm would be around 24000. I looked at reduction gearboxs at TowerHobbies and found a range from 3to1 to 5.5 to 1. At 3to1 reduction assuming the above is correct the rpm would be around 8000, at 4to1= 6000rpm ,5to1= 4800rpm. What would be a good all around prop rpm?
Thanks for the reply Pinecone

Pick up MotoCalc or Ecalc or one of the other programs that run the numbers to tell you what setup will work.
I run various 3600 and 4100 kV motors with 6 to 1 gearboxes on 3S.
