Yeah this sucks...like a lot of people...I have had my name on the waiting list since July 07...I was stupid enough to sell my DX-7 while I was taking a little vacation from the hobby since the end of IRCHA...Now I have 2 heli's I need to put 72MHz RX's back into before going down to BlackSheep over New Years...grrrrrrrr

Thanks Dan...but I have at least two spare G3's in my TX case...was hoping by this time to have like 5 spare sitting in my case because I would be flying the FASST stuff! DOH!
Does anyone know if there is going to be a choice of receivers once you have this Tx module? IOW,will it work with other (<14 channel) fasst receivers for use on mini-helis?
What is the plan for putting the transmitter in its storage case? Remove the module every time? I would rather see a new foam insert offered for the case to fit the whole thing.

Yes it will work with lower channel # receivers, but not with 2048 resolution as I understand it.

That's good to hear.
Looking at the Tower photo I now see that the antenna is hinged, so getting it into the case may be no big deal. :)

Tower has them in stock-limited quantities.
Hopefully the software will be posted soon so I can use it.
Judging by the packaging and lack of updated radio software I get the feeling they really pushed getting this thing out in a hurry.

The update for the 12Z and 14MZ will be posted shortly on the Futaba Fliers Club. Got an email earlier that says it will be posted.

Hoot,
Will the Transmitter fit in the case with the module installed?
Yes. Just have to cut an area of the foam for the folded antenna.

Awesome, that is good news. Now to wait for the Aussie distributor to get these into Australia :)
Thanks for the pictures Hoot!

Hey, guys! Do you mind explaining to me this 2048 stuff?
I mean... Spektrum claims that 2.4 Ghz holds 4096 resolution because it's faster data exchanging... I assume that FASST can reach that speed too, since it's 2.4.
Am I wrong?
So... why do you want 2048 when you have 4096?
Sorry about the dumb question =(

Please post a link where you found that Spektrum is using 4096 resolution.

Well the article you posted is from 2005 and was for a 3 ch system.. It is also listed this as the range:
Range: 3,000 ft.
Things may have changed a little since that article was written. And the 2.4 ghz aircraft radios only came on the market in late 2006.

The only people with more than 1024 resolution on a Spektrum are test/beta pilots and they have 2048. At least on the helicopter radios.

Oh, now I get it...
Thanks for the clarification, guys! So, it seems that FASST for the 14MZ is the way to go!
Thanks again ;-)

The only one with more than 12+ channels and feature rich is the 12-14 series, currently that I know of.
I have been know to be wrong before. Won't be the first or last time.
With the Futaba FASST modules you still get the same channels, and features not less. AND no dangling wires. Accident waiting to happen IMO.
I use up to 11 channels so far, no matchboxes, all servos on their own channels and ganged servos travel matched inside the tx.
My backordered 2.4GHz module is on it's way(This Friday). I will use either 72MHz or 2.4GHz for different flying locations. Sounds like Futaba will have the SW soon. Glad I did not do overnight shipping now.
I would rather have the module and wait a few days for the SW verses the other way around. Shipping delay verses downloading the SW. But it would be nice if both together. I think they were hoping the holiday shipping would delay the units until the SW was posted but I think the holidays got them, both here and overseas.
I would rather have a delay for a last minute ?? fix than loose a plane!
Are they delaying to get the region lock stuff done?
Why neuter a 12-14MZ with only 8 channels and have a cable hanging out?
