Hi All,

I recently purchased some flightpower evo lipo batteries for my MX400. 2170mah 11.1V to be exact. My question is, my swallow advance charger only allows 50mah increments for the battery capacity ie 2150mah or 2200mah. I have set the capacity on the charger for 2150mah which is 20mah less than the actual capacity resulting in a charge current of 2.15amps instead of 2.17amps or 0.9C instead of 1C. Is this the correct thing to do? Would it be safe to set the capacity on the charger to 2200mah which would give a charge current of 2.2amps or 1.01C?

Thanks.

yes you could even set it to charge at 2c
most charge at 1c, what you are describing doesnt matter

you shouldnt be putting any more than about 1800mah or so, so it doesnt matter if the capacity is a little off, you set the capacity just so the charger can not ever overcharge your battery, ie: if you set it at 1500mah and its a 3000mah battery the charger will stop when its A: charged or B: has put 1500mah into the battery

you could put 4amps in no problem on a flightpower battery, even a hyperion battery can be charged at 2c, but if your not in a hurry stick with 1 c, hope this helps

Thanks E-4, that all makes sense. I'm still a little confused though. I'm not sure if you are familiar with the Swallow Advance charger. To charge a lipo you have to set the voltage and capacity of the battery to be charged. If I set the capacity to 2200mAh for example when charging my 2170mAh pack, Am I correct in assuming that the charger will finish when it reaches a max voltage of around 12.6V(4.2V per cell) and will not try to charge the pack to the set capacity of 2200mAh? Also by setting the capacity higher than the actual capacity of the pack this increases the charge current above 1C resulting in a faster charge? Just want to make sure I have a correct understanding. If I charge my packs above 1C will this have any adverse effect on the pack?

Thanks.

charge it at 3S at 2.2A. if your in a hurry, stick it anything up to 5.4A :smokin:

chargers cut off with voltage levels, not capcity, so youll be fine with that!!
