View Full Version : align gyro drift

I'm a newbie with a trex 450. I've got an Align gyro on it. The gyro holds quite well, at least for my simple needs at this point. And I've got it set up so it works ok in both rate-gyro, and heading hold modes. Except... It drifts in a systematic way in heading hold. When I first spin up with a new battery, I have to put in a lot of right trim. Then throughout the pack, I have to put it a click of left every so often. By the time I'm done, it's back where I started, and gonna need a load of right when I fly next time.

Any ideas what's wrong, or what I can do? (I know, get a 401)

Seems like an electronic issue, not mechanical. Anyone ever tried a voltage regulator, or separate battery on these? I dont know how well the BEC in the ESC regulates...

Go to the Finless section, check out the videos on the HDX300 and watch the video on setting up the Telebee gyro (same gyro).

You need to use subtrim to stop the drift.

My radio doesn't have sub-trims. I've been using the trims, which I *think* is ok. But what the video pointed out is, the gain adjust pot on the gyro should be at full gain when using the remote mode switch / gain adjust via the tx. I set that right, re-adjusted the gain on the TX, and have had 3 flights w/ practically no trim required. yahoo. Thanks Pinecone, and Finless.
