The metal grips are so much stronger than plastic ones even with a hole drilled in them so I'm not worried about that, now on plastic grips I may feel a little unconfortable with holes in them. I've flown for months with a bad tail on my 450's so I'm not in a hurry to try something new.

what do you mean by "bad tail?"

Comes from having out of balance tail blades!

see,now everybody thinks their tail is bad ,B.S.......since the day the t-rex se and mini titan have come out people have been doing crazy extreme 3D bone stock out of the box,and the tail was "awesome""solid as a rock"......now nobody's heli is flyable without this mod.....this is totally mental, everybodys heli is just fine...if you want to do the mod.thats great, every bit helps, but the only thing thats gonna know any different is the servo. As the jury is still out on wheather you can actually feel this in the air or not..I'm not saying the mod does not work as I'm SURE it does, I'm just saying its creating false problems in peoples minds and once something gets in your head, thats it.Also, the majority of pilots out there aren't even pushing their heli's NEAR hard enough to feel the benefits if this...

My only tail problem comes from driving the tail into the ground and messing up the blades a little, I have just not replaced them yet. Other than that the tail is fine. I don't think people are imagining problems, but I have yet to fly a 450 size heli that has a rock solid tail using a micro servo. Jump up to a 30 size heli and its great, so that there makes me think its the micro tail servo's. I used a full size tail servo on 1 of my trex 450's for a short time and it felt pretty nice but it was out of balance so I took it off.

I agree that this mod is more for the micro (450) size heli's. That has been my very limited experience so far. I had pretty good luck with the 9650 on the tail of my 450 but when I went with the 3154 it has not been the same. (needed the 9650 elswhere) I don't think we should need huge strong tail servos to overcome an issue that can be fixed by a simple mod. My 450 was very inconsistant in moving pyros with the 2100 gyro/3154 servo but after the mod it is several times improved. I don't think we will see such large improvements using the mod on larger heli's but I do think if it can be done right, it would be nice to take a load off of the servo just for sake of having it last longer. :)

Yeah, I agree. Its just trying to get the holes drilled exact if you have metal grips, plastic is easy.

Yep, the HG5000 with the 0.07 micro servo that Hitec is coming out with will be a welcomed addition I think.

I tried the JR 770 3d and a JR 3400g servo and thats the best I have felt so far.

I think I'm gonna get a set of the Gazzuar weighted tail blades and see how they work....I'll post a report, but it may be a few weeks

I've heard some really bad things about Gazzuar so I'm staying away from their stuff.

Just read the T-Rex thread linked at the beginning of this thread - took a while! Has anyone tried modding the stock plastic MT tail blade grips with weights?
Cheers
