With all the different governors/rev limiters out there which one seems to be the favorite one with regard to ease of setup and reliability ?

ATG or Muti-gov i use both and they work.

I use the curtis atg it can be setup as a governor or a limiter it will limit low and high allowing you to use your throttle curve in between. I also use the gv-1 but like the cyb atg better.

Aerospire Multigov or CSM RL20 are my favorites. GV1 is old, big, slow and more expensive.

CSM RL20, easy to setup and can be used as a governor or limiter.

My pros and cons....

The ATG, TJ Pro are nice and work very well... But only draw back is you must use a tach to get the head speed set to what you want as the setup RPM on the ATG is just a "close" setup. For the TJ Pro you dont set gear ratio etc and MUST use a tach to set your HS. I cant comment on the others since I have not used them but they sound very similar in setup.

The GV-1 is slower, older, larger, etc but everyone i have set up what the RPM says on the GV-1 display matches the tach almost exactly and thus you dont need a tach and have to fool around getting the head speed right.

So really depending on what you are looking for will give you an idea of what to get. In my opinion all of them work well enough for most people.

My preference no matter which gov you choose is do it right and get a tach and set your head speeds properly.

I've been thinking of trying that one. What's the verdict?

Clay I got it bundled with a heli I bought off Motions, up till then I've been buying Revlocks.

I really like it. The removable LCD is nice, set up is a snap and its small and light and holds very well. Aerospire did a firmware update that they did for anyone that wanted to send thiers back and the guy is accessable if you have any questions.

I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one. It holds better than the GV1 and about the same as a RL

CSM Revlock 20 is a superb Governor and Limiter - I have been using one for a while now and I have installed a lot of them in other peoples helicopters with good feedback.

One thing I really like about the RevLock 20 is you don't need a tacho to set the headspeed(s) The RevLock uses a series of LED lights that relate to a specific R.P.M range, you get a laminated chart that includes all the necessary R.P.M ranges to suit your setup, it makes the setup extremely easy.

The backup and support from CSM (Colin Mill) is top notch.

CSM RL20 is the best, So easy to setup.
I check it with the eagle tree data recorder and the head speed was held very well

I dont have a tach so I use an Aerospire Multigov on my 600n and 600e. It holds nice and is cake to setup.

Aerospire Multigov.

No tach needed, dial and key with the LCD, set your headspeeds/gear ratio/ limits/ digital servo Y or N/ your done :D

Holds great rpm, set up as governor or limiter. Change between that in flight as well.

FWIW, I use the TJ RevMax on all of my helicopters and it works great. Model Avionics has an Excel spreadsheet you can download and use to program most radios to achieve the desired headspeeds. While I do use a tach to check mine, I have always found that settings calculated using the spreadsheet have been within 20-30 rpm of the desired range.
