View Full Version : 8s Motor Reccomendations?
I am currently setting up for 8s and was after some suggestions on what would be a good motor and where to get it from? Also what gearing is being used on the suggested motor, I like around 2300 rpm on the head. And am running 75% throttle to achieve this yet conserve power for a longer flight time. thanks for suggestions and gearing advise.

Z-power Z30 is popular and not too expensive. I use an 800Kv in a 10S setup.. there is an 1100Kv which might work... modelflight.com.au carry them I think.
I'm using Revco gears (68/61) and an 18t Revco pinion on 10S and that is giving just under 2400 at 65% T on my Jazz 55-10-32 but I guess that does not help with an 8S gearing choice.
Take a look at the Hurricane HS calculator on http://www.readyheli.com/Online_Headspeed_Calculator_s/81.htm
A quick run thru using the 61T primary and main and 14t seems to be in your RPM range..woth an 1100Kv motor. Maybe you'd want to go for a 15t.

Simon,
Contact David at Globalrchobby.com.au - he is running the stock 850kv motor on an 8S setup and is getting good flight times and great performance (depending on your definition of great)

Paul.
