I was poking around for a spares collection, and found there are two main shafts for the 500: one for $18, and a hardened one for $34. Is the hardened one worth the nearly doubled price? Are these prices for single shafts?

From what I was told the $18 stock shaft is pretty weak and the hardened shaft is worth the extra money. One shaft for $34 is kinda steep but you had to know that when you bought the Mikado name ;)

The hardened one without crash will last forever, the one way on aggressive flying can bite into stock one over time and leave it chattery after ahwile, the hardened one is super smooth and yes will take a small tumble without bending in alot of cases.

I have been lucky so far with the stock one. I had a mild tip over after a auto when I landed on eneven gound. I thought for sure the stock shaft would be bent BUT I got lucky. When I do put my 500 in I will def upgrade to the hardened main shaft. I figure it won't be real long before aftermarket companies come out with spare parts for the 500 at cheaper prices.
