Ok, my R60 was running ok after but I decided to try to tweak the gyro (GY401) since I noticed that the rudder trim was way to the right, so...
I put the gyro in normal mode, correct the trim to the center and change the length of the push rod to compensate. I start the heli but it was piroing to the left, so I decided to forget about it, trimmed it to the right (as it was) until hovering was straight, flipped the gyro 3 times as specified in the setup, left it at GY setting did a flight when the time for landing came I decided to hit throttle hold at a couple of feet height and as soon as I did that the heli piroed (which it didn't used to do that) threw me off base I put it down hard and bang, or better said, Boom!, there it goes the boom (and another set of blades):arggg::arggg::arggg::arggg: (I know, I know if it's not broken don't fix it:o)
Which also brings me to the next question...
Last week, I did an auto (about 100ft) and since I'm always afraid of running out of head speed I brought it down quite fast but I didn't flared too much (that was another boom and blades set).
It wasn't that hard of a landing (and today was even softer) so after 2 (pretty stupid) boom strikes I'm wondering if it is time to change the rubber dampers.
I have a set blue ones that came with my R90 and also a set of the red ones.
Can I use the red ones with the plastic head?
Are the blue ones any different than the black supplied with the R60?
Thanks to anyone helping me to get through this since I'm starting to have second thoughts about me and this hobby:bawl

Ok....

First off NEVER use rudder trim with a Heading Hold gyro. put the trim back in the center flip the switch 3 times like you did and now set it up correctly mechanically. That should fix your problem. Also make sure there is no revolution mixing in your radio.

here's a couple tips on auto's.

anything more than -5/6* of pitch and you actually LOSE headspeed and increase sink rate. I ran +/- 10-12 degrees on my raptor 60, which in Throttle hold had my stick around the 1/4 position.

Also right as or slightly before touch down put a small amount of forward cyclic into the heli, this puts a large distance between the boom and the blades.

The blue dampers are slightly firmer than the stock black ones and the red ones are the stiffest, you can use them with the plastic head w/o issues.

Thanks Invert,
With the gyro, it was working perfect but I read somewhere about having the mechanical setup right and then do it out of HH so there is no masking of any tendencies and once that was done then put it on HH again. (I wonder why I did that).
What I don't get is that it was back in HH at the crash, why did the heli piroed when I hit TH is what it worries me now, I'll go through the TX setup now to see if I can find anything wrong with the programing
As for the autos I think the problem is that I always did short ones ( about 30ft) and so the feeling is that by the time I was at landing there wasn't much spinning left on the head. I think I noticed (too busy to really appreciate it at the moment) that with that longer auto and since the heli had a much longer drop with the negative pitch the head speed not only kept but it seemed to even increase a bit (is this right or was just my head buzzing???) if this is so I would have had more momentum to stop the heli a couple of feet off the ground and do a softer touch down. But I always get nervous that I'll wait too long and the heli would drop dead from a couple of feet because I don't have any energy left on the rotor.
