well all you have to do to prevent a lockup is when your building your kit, take the oneway bearing appart and heavily grease it.... i have run nearly 3 gallons and clocked 8 hours flying and my oneway bearing is like new (touch wood)

That only applies if you're LUCKY. My 600N has seen 4 one-way's and 3 one-way shafts, with different lubes applied to each one(stock, white lithium, tri-flow, ATF) and ALL failed in less than 1 gallon.

what type of flying are you doing??? if your doing really hard 3d then of course you oneway is gunna lock up but if you doing light 3d an just ff, then your oneway will last, like mine....

With respect, I think you don't quite know what you are talking about. The one way that came in my kit (basic) locked up right away on the first flight -- breaking in the engine, not hard 3D. The affected one-ways are loose - that is there is play/slop between the shaft and bering. The Align replacement I'm now running has no slop, and no locking after a weekend of hard flying - well as hard as I can fly. I do think that based on anecdotal reports that more basic kits have been affected than Pro kits.

I have one of LukeRC's auto hubs & it works great....My 1st 1-way locked up while hovering and breaking in the engine...The 2nd 1-way locked up before the I could finish 1 tank of fuel...The 3rd was the LukeRC unit...It works as promised and just seems to get smoother & free-er the more you use it...I have 2 gallons of absolutely trouble-free flying on mine.

Sorry, wrong again. I am no 3d master... I am only capable of basic foward flight and a little sport flying, I havent advanced beyond that yet. Like I said before, you're just one of the -lucky- ones who havent had one-way issues :D

Not trying to contradict everyone here, but just so you know, the affected one-ways arent all loose like you think. Two of the four one-ways that locked up on me were a very tight fit(sleeve into the one-way) and had no slop whatsoever, yet they still failed.

well maybe not all the time but i do know for a fact that if you stress a oneway bearing ( hard 3d flight ) that it can be one of the causes of lockups..... it happens on my fathers tractors through the amount of power the engine chucks out.... nothing to do with helis but just to prove a point

No contradiction. I didn't think that every one way that failed had slop.. surely some don't (many more ways for a one-way bearing to fail other than slop!). I said that affected one ways have slop... And by my personal experience as well as what I've read, this is certianly related.
There is definately something wrong with a lot of the kit's one ways, and for me the updated part fixed the problem.

Everyone mentions Tri-Flow but the grease or the superior lubricant? The description of the lubricant says "allows for deep penetration into hard to reach moving parts". This sems to be the problen no?
