Thanks Angelos. I'll check for binding the way you suggested as well. If I hold the head, and turn the tail rotor, I can get the belt to slip with enough force, clicking into the next tooth, but not easily.

Having a metal pulley doesnt mean it cant slip! The metal pulley on the SE and SEV2 is NOT splined and is only green locktited on the shaft. I have seen several people have them slip and even come off. Double check it.

I can't get it to slip. Perhaps my belt is getting worn. If I hold the tail, I can pretty easily rotate the head and have the belt click over the drive pulley. I'm running the belt tighter than I normally would as well. It's a Gates belt. I'll put a fresh belt on and see if the tail has less give.

Hello -

I just received and hooked up my DS760 to my TREX 450. I have a DX7 and a 6100 receiver. This isn't a new setup. I'm replacing a 401 that I had in it, connected to a 9650 Futaba.

I've watched Bob's video on setup, and gone step by step with it for the better part of 2 hours.

I'm really STUCK. The direction of the rudder is correct when applying yaw, but when I move the heli, on the ground, the gyro is going the wrong direction. As suspected, it piros out of control when starting to take off.

Here's what I did.

First, I plugged in the servo to the rudder channel - no gyro at all, and confirmed the normal setting for direction on the receiver.

Next, I re-bound the receiver with the gyro plugged in, without the servo plugged in. Left stick held and binded it successfully. When I power on the receiver, the light blinks on the gyro until the receiver and DX7 are locked, and then it glows solidly.

I setup the gyro, it was blinking TWICE though the manual said it defaults to the 1520 / 333Hz setting (which is one blink?).... I set it to one blink for my 9650 Futaba. Turned it off. Connect the servo.

Setup the reverse direction, by pushing the rudder to the left and rebooting. Next set the endpoints, beautiful, love the way that works BTW.

Turn on the power again, and give it left stick, the leading edge of the blade moves out, move right, the leading edge moved in. As planned.

But when I move the nose, the blades move the wrong direction??? I move it left, the blades move out.... making the situation worse, not correcting it.

I've redone the process probably 10 times now. I'm lost. I'd like a tech support number, but don't see one....

Thanks for your help!
Rob

Do you have the Gyro mounted inverted? If so you need to reverse the Gyro sense.

cheers Brian

You don't reverse the gyro sense in the radio if that is what you mean.
OK so if the rudder stick is moving the pitch slider the correct direction then at the step where you set gyro direction move the stick to the right instead of left. This reverses the gyro correction.

Hi Bob thanks for clarifying my earlier post.. Its the Gyro Sense which needs to be reversed which is done with the rudder stick.

cheers Brian

Great! That was the problem. Thank you, think that was a case where I followed your video too closely and may have missed it in the manual... my bad. I kept pushing left, left, left... you get it.

Rob.

Pretty much every digital tail servo works. The only exceptions at the moment are...................

Other than that you should be ok with pretty much any other digital servo. The ds760 is not picky but you will of course get the best performance when using a fast servo with sufficient torque. At the moment my personal favourites are the JR 8900G for large helis and S3153 or S9257 for small electrics. Also the Futaba S9256 works very well too but it is more pricy that the 8900G without offering better spec.

How bout this one Angelos. http://store.rcsupersales.net/servlet/.f1b7c077/-strse-2007/HYPERION-ATLAS-DS-20/Detail . Sounds like it should work fine. BTW Bob let me know if you want to do a review on this servo and I'll send one your way, I like the fact that you can program the Hyperion Servos with the USB cable and software. Not to mention it has all metal gears and is under $45! I think I will use that Servo with the Spartan on my Swift 550 setup.

Seems reasonable. A bit less torque than a 9254 but that probably won't make much difference on the Swift.

I tried finding this Gyro but it was out of stock everywhere I looked. I finaly found it at Webber Aerial Imaging and RC. They seen to show they have over 5 in stock. Does anyone know if these guys are ok to buy from as it just seems odd that they have so many and everyone is out.

thanks

I have purchased from Mark on several occasions. He is a good source for the Spartan special made items. He is very responsive, quick service every time, and delivers what you order.

I just received a 760 from Mark this week. Quick shipping and good communication. Now we need to find someone that has a good supply of Flash-Link cables. ;)

I don't know...I think he's one shifty character, myself;)

Thank you for ordering with us, Gene. And everyone else that has, also.

We had 100 come in our last order. Less than 20 left, now. That's the reason we have some and everyone else is still out. Spartan is shipping as fast as possible so it won't be long before there are more elsewhere. Not that you have to buy from them.;)

Ok I am having a problem with mine. The tail kicks to the right on hard punchouts. My HS is 2800 and there is no binding anywhere. I am using the K&B tail blades and the tension of the belt is perfect, not to loose but not overtight. Help.

did you setup your tail mechanically such that there is a 8degrees pitch when the tail servo horn is at 90 degrees?

Seems Alvin got the solution on RR. Governor mode was causing the grief.
