Hey!
There is ALOT of great information in this MEGA-Thread on the DS760... the few times that anyone asked about comparing it to a GY-611 there was no information to be found.
I'm looking to get a new Gyro for my upcomming Trex 600e and cannot decided between the GY611 or the DS760. Has anyone done a comparison of the two gyros?
Thanks in advance!

My opinion is they are both great gyro's! Either one will do you well. These are the 2 best gyros out there in my opinion. If you want someone to tell you which one is better I don't think you will get an answer like that! You need to look at both and see which one best fits your needs. Performance wise they are the same to me but remember I am no hot pilot!

Even all things being the same which there not..
Spartan DS760..smaller, lighter, more compact, one piece design, less likely to be damaged due to lower size/weight inertia, support for using different frame rate servo's, easy to setup, software upgradable. Very soon to be available... blue tooth configuration capability via certain mobile phones and PDA (pocket PC's) currently being beta-tested but due within a couple weeks.
It's programable, tail lock is awesome, piro consistency is very good and certainly matches anything else out there, support via the designer on here and other forums..Bob's video make it a piece of cake if your a techno fobe..
So all in all its a pretty cool gyro

Yep those for sure are the benefits of the Spartan! My comment was focused on his question which I think is which one works better... That I think is a question that might be answered only be someone that can actually tell a difference which I think would wind up being subjective in nature anyway..... But as you say those items you list are certainly benefits that a 611 doesn't have!
For me if I was standing at the shop and both were in front of me at the same price..... I would go with the Spartan myself because of those benefits not because I think it performs better, the same, or worse than a 611. I myself cant tell that difference only that it works as good as the top gyro before it, the 611.

guys, i have the bluetooth....brilliant. it is a gadget no spartan owner should be without. i setup a vibe perfectly in less than a minute with mine. just strapped it to the heli and we flew it. landed, edit the gyro, fly again...brilliant. don't even need to spool down.
cheers
p.s if you want one (and i sense you will) then get pre ordering. they WILL sell out like everything else just now.

I pre-ordered from A Main Hobbies and they had it in stock within a week. I didn't have to pay anything down and when it was in stock they gave me a week to order it without fear of losing the order!!! :) Great service!!!

I can't find it on their site. The only place I could find a backorder was WAI and they listed at $175. Is that correct?

We don't have a price for it yet until the first lot is finished this week and I work out all production costs. However the end price should be cheaper. I suspect WAI may have misinterpreted our conversation last week and estimated a higher RRP. They will probably change it soon.

No, as it says on the site, the current pricing has not been fixed just yet. However, if I place an lower number and you order, I would be required to honor that order.
It will be less than what's shown.

It's going to be another week or so before the units are ready and Spartan will be able to start shipping out orders.
Ours first, I hope.;)

Hey guys, any help would be appreciated on this issue i'm having. I got my flash link (blue end) back when the Spartan's first came out and successfully did updates and configuration with it. Then a few weeks ago I went to make an adjustment to the configuration and it crashed the computer I was on twice. Wasn't my computer so I didn't want to keep crashing it. Fast forward to this week and just got my second Spartan and went to do the update on a brand new MacbookPro with a 1 week old install of WindowsXP on it.......bang crashed this computer. I've got my work laptop which also is brand new with a fresh XP install and I may try it on that as well but wanted to see if anyone had any ideas on what is going on. BTW, yes I did install the drivers before plugging in the cable.
Thanks,
Fil

Just got my 8900G for my T600E. Any recommendations on ball distance on servo horn? I'm totally shooting in the dark here. I was going to start at 13mm, but are there any suggestions to be had?

I'm further out on my 600E, more like 17mm. That has me close to 100 each way in the gyro endpoints, which is about ideal.

Yes there is a trade off on how far out you are with resolution vs speed. Too far out and you got speed but low resolution. Too far in and tons of resolution but low speed. In the end as Mark says having the gyro ends as close to 100 as you can get insures your near the happy medium between resolution and speed.

Might be a long shot.. but have you tried turning off (DEP) Data Execution Prevention, as a troubleshooting option? right+click my computer, properties, advanced, performance section, settings button, DEP tab..
This works for somewhat similar issues with Realflight. Not sure if this will help your spartan software / USB problem.

Does this happen when you plug in the USB cord to the PC? If it happens right then drivers installed or not then it may be bad and shorting the 5V line on the port causing a reboot like that. I had a USB to parallel printer port thingy that did that and it was just bad... Got a new one and problem solved.
Anyway your best bet is to make a trouble ticket on the SpartanRC web site.

The drivers seem to install fine and I can plug in the chord and detect the flash link in the firmware loader. It will assign a com port then ask to plug in and power on the gyro. When I do that it never ends up detecting anything off of the gyro and the program hangs and will blue screen the computer.

Very odd...
Stupid question I know... But.... No chance your plugging in the cord to the gyro backwards? A blue screen on XP is rare even for a application such as this... Seems like a hardware issues still to me.
