I'm further out on my 600E, more like 17mm. That has me close to 100 each way in the gyro endpoints, which is about ideal.
If I go out more than about 14mm on the servo arm I have to flex the rod slightly to fit the balls. No matter how I move the guides this is still necessary. I have the newer guides. I wonder if there is a better option. It still moves very free, but I don't like it.

Ok, I just went and remeasured my 600E. Looks like I'm at 14mm. Must have moved it when I first did the install and forgot.
Must be getting old.

Very odd...
Stupid question I know... But.... No chance your plugging in the cord to the gyro backwards? A blue screen on XP is rare even for a application such as this... Seems like a hardware issues still to me.
Bob
No stupid questions. I did try to plug it in the opposite way but the connector is keyed so there is only one way to plug it in. I'm definately thinking that something has gone bad with this cable. 3 different computers and two different gyros and the same result. Guess i'll have to contact Spartan.
Thanks for your help Bob.

Have you loaded XP SP 3 recently?
Other thing to do is look at Event Viewer that may give you some clue to what is going on. Event viewer is found found on the Control panel under admin tools.

Any word on when ds760 will actually be possible to find? Its such an awesome gyro i cant seem to get my hands on one, even working in a hobby shop.

Hey. elefun.no in Norway and ezfly.se in Sweden have the gyro in stock.

Last time I heard from Angelos, they were hoping to have everything ready to start shipping in a week or so. In any case, they should start hitting the shops pretty soon.

I setup my gyro using the gyro sens function in the dx7 but I was wondering If I could switch from using that to using ATVs? What do I need to do? Do I change gyro sens from Auto and then use the ATVs to set gains up?
Thanks,
Cameron

In the UK it's currently back in stock at realraptors and quickuk. They also have the bluelink too!

Well I flew with my ds760. All I can say is WOW! So much easier to setup than the 611 and seems to work better to. Plus the gyro itself is so much smaller and contained. Nothing but good things to say. Webber Aerial Imaging also has them up for pre-order. 5 gyros, 5 blue links and 5 flash links. http://www.webberaerialimaging.com/catalog/index.php?manufacturers_id=10 Damn that blue link is expensive, $119. I think I will just stick with the flash link for now.

I have an odd issue. When I give full right rudder the tail slider moves to its limit and stays there after the stick is returned to center as it should. However, when I move it full left it moves to its limit, but when I return the stick to center the slider rebounds about 3-5mm instead of staying at its full limit. This shows up as a small bounce in the air when I piro. It is not flex in the controls. Any ideas how to fix this?

I think that is probably OK aas I seem to recall that as well... Has to do with the defaults and piro rate. REMEMBER in the air vs what you see on the table is very different!
I would fly it and see.

Yup, my Spartan does that too.. it does it on both sides, but not just at full deflection - if I move rudder halfway in one direction, the servo drives back a little when stick returns to center - I'd definitely say this is normal. Not noticed any particular bouncing out of pirouettes though. I would tune that out with the stop-gain adjustment if I had any bounce.

Dont worry about that at all as when in flight the slider only travels a very small amout to piro. A lot less than you realise
Possibly the reason you set the travels via the Gyro on setup is to preventing accidental over travelling of the tail linkage when for example you start your heli then pick it up to carry out to the fligfhtline and rotate the Heli by 180 deg to get it facing the correct way as you plonk it on the ground. That will cause the gyro to say Hey were facing the wrong way.
WARNING...To test this if your a capable pilot Max your Rudd ATV and stick it in Rate mode and apply full rudder to get true full travel on the tail in flight...come back here and tell me how many degrees it rotated per second..LOL...Just remember to stop it softly!..

To reduce bounce move the Acceleration/deceleration down a couple points on the sliders If you go to far the stop will get soft and can be corrected by increasing the stop gain a little to compensate.

My Spartan is not quite as consistant in piros as I was expecting it to be. For example, in traveling piros the tail slows down upwind and speeds up downwind. It's not nearly as bad as my 401 was, but not perfectly smooth either. I don't have the usb cable yet, is there anything that might improve the consistancy in advanced settings?

Bob, I'm thinking about putting a spatan on a 450SE
I have Hitec HS65-MG and a JR3400G Servo on the tail.
Are these guys good enough for the Spartan or are they not fast enough?

Thanks for the replies. I definately need to get a USB link.

The 3400G will be good. I don't know the specs on the HS65.

I don't think a HS65 would be a good choice for the tail anyway. The 3400 should work well though.

Sorry, what am I thinking, I'm using the HS65's for the cyclic not on tails.
Disregard that HS65's

After trying to get my endpoints as close to 100 as I could get I settled on 110 on the high and also on the low. I guess without having set the 8 degrees it would have been attainable but it seems like with 90 degree setup the gyro has to work harder. With the 8 degrees you can get the heli to basically cancel out the torque of the main rotor by having the tail compensate just enough. Without this, in AVCS mode it seems like the gyro would have to compensate for both the rotor head torque plus any other movements that are not inputted by the stick. I guess that might be a little bit more crucial with say a 401 but I guess if the gyro is powerful enough then you don't have to worry about it.
