I can weight mine in about 2 days sans battery and electrics - motor also ?
Just finished the tail section last night - took way longer than I anticipated - bit of a novelty having to assemble EVERYTHING from the ground up :)
Wasn't happy with the slider elbow linkage - they were pretty stiff and I ended up dumping the ali pins for some steel collared M2 bolts. EDIT: Got them on back to front!
Didn't need the shims on the tail spindle in fact the casing was a bit tight so I put a shim on the rear hex spacer.
The tail hub had a fraction of endplay in on one side and none on the other but it looks a really good (leading edge control) unit.
Thought I'd start a thread on differences between 500 and 600

Yes the tail is a bit of work to assemble and is the most difficult part of the whole build imho. It's all down hill from there though baby!!
The tail case on mine was a tad snug also and will be adding a thin washer on the rear hex spacer too.
The tail pitch slider on my kit moves free and silky smooth.
I'm enjoying the build videos John. Keep them coming.

FWIW the weight of the naked heli without motor, radio, lipo or blades is 1360g (the canopy weighs in at 84g )

Do you have anything else to compare it to ?
I feel my 500 is incredibly light for its size, but its only a feeling as i havent weighed it or compared it to anything else.

Haven't really bothered before but I think the L6003D seems lighter than the T600s - when I get the motor and servos and blades in I'll compare it with the Rexxies ! - The canopy is certainly very light = the T600 F/G weighs in at 156g

From what I've seen on my 500, I'm hoping they come out with a beefier canopy. Light is one thing, but getting those grommets in without tearing the hole is quite a chore, not to mention the outright fear taking it off and putting it on gives me.

Oh well, if you must !:arggg:
PS - Actually you make a good point about the grommets - they ARE really stiff for that canopy - I tried the old style TREX600 grommets and they FIT perfectly so I'm gonna be using those !

Great thread Jeremy. I'm still think that either the 500 or 600 will be my Christmas heli this year so I really appreciate you taking the time to post your observations and pictures!

While fiddlng about with the servos I glanced down the bearing blocks to see that the M2.5 x 10 bolts fall short of the Nylok section of the nut  - difficult to photo but I've tried to illustrate this - important to get some 12mm length bolts or pull them out and Loctite them (which is what I did).

Mine are just like yours and will be buying some M2.5x12mm bolts ASAP.

Does the counterbearing no. 4134 for the pinion come in the kit or is it a seperately ordered item?

Mine came in the kit. I think some kits lack this part.

The kits down here (australia) do not have the part in the box.

Mine did not come with one either. I was also concerned that it would extend how far the motor shaft/pinion gets down near the battery. Is it significant? (he says, after already having had to chop the shaft too short to use it).

John this counterbearing is a specific part for the 6003D kits, not the 5003D.

It makes sense that it it is a 600 part.
I have been reading the 600 3D instrustions awaiting my kit. I think I have everything for it now.

Not in my 6003D kit - says in the instructions for very hard 3D so I guess I won't be needing it for a while !!

Hey,
Great thread for sure! Glad you have fun with your kit. Some infos from my side,
the solidG gyro feels very nice and consistent, better than 611 for sure and close to the v Bar gyro performance.
M2.5x12 screws aren't really necessary, I haven't had one screw back out just a bit on my machines after all time flying. But you can do that to calm your minds :)
Watch out when tighten up the belt on the front, that you don't pull the boom out of the forward boom clamps. Most of us push the boom all the way in up front, tighten the screws and tighten the belt on the rear case. But looks like you are all the way out on the tail case yet..
Also pay attention that you install the tail case square, it's the case when your belt rides almost center on the tailgear, not running off to one side all time. Might cause problems in the future. Adjust the height of the front belt gear with shims on the mainshaft the same, or close.
Using oil like model engine oil or some kind of lubricant on the oneway, should work better than grease. It does have the right thickness too

EDIT*** Per Daniel Jetschin...... the man that knows this heli very well, you will need a washer just under the bolt head also. This will keep the link from popping off. Thanks Dan

You'll need a washer anyways behind the ball after you've installed the link to keep it from popping off, don't install only one washer in front of the ball..
