It is a 500 because the power required is about that of a 500 sized motor. The 450 uses a 450 sized motor. The 600 actually uses a 600 sized motor, but also swings 600 sized blades.
Nitro helicopters are named on motor size.

Dammit, Pinecone beat me to it.
I guess that would answer my next question that was: Is the TRex 450 really a TRex 325? ;)

I was a little sad to see my E620 leave........ but now since I got the Logo 6003D on my workbench it's :Bliss
You really can't compare the two Vic. The Logo is so much more thought out in design. It looks as if someone said "How well can I design a R/C Heli?" first, then later asked "How much will this cost to produce?" It's trully a pace setting heli that everyone else will try to acheive.
EDIT*** So fare I'm sold on Mikado being one of the best.

Nobody has said they aren't good. Just you have to be willing to pay the price.
I drive a BMW, but I don't crash it. :)

I think Align makes a nice product but..... honestly the Mikado stuff is in a class all to itself. With it's light weight exotic parts, V-bar system and German enginering behind it, there really isn't anything like it. It's without question the BMW of the helicopter world.
About the Align 500. I think it should be called a 425... I mean lets be honest that's what it is. When they release it (someday) I will most likely get one just to have a nice mid size heli to play with. Before I buy anything, I want to see it fly and how it's built. I doubt it will be on par with Mikado, but I'm sure from Aligns past it will be nice and affordable for most anyone and a pleasure to fly.
Just my .02
BTW, the V-bar is optional and can be fitted on a T-Rex 500 or any other capable heli. As long has you have the place to fit the controller.

The v-bar has a tail gyro built in, it's that correct? Because if it has then the price is comparable to the CSM setup. Hmmm!!!

But you have insurance, registration, and ongoing maintenance which is more on a beemer than say a civic.:D

Registraton is the same.
Free maintenance for the first 4 years, 50K miles.
Insurance is a bit more, but it is an M3. :)
And the maintenance will be higher on the Logo in parts costs. :)

Some parts are higher without question..... you got to pay for precision tolerances. They aren't just charging more for parts for the hell of it, they really are machined a step above. Thus adding an increase in cost to produce.
Look we are wanting the same thing here.... to have fun. If a Mazada is whats in your budget and your having a blast then right on. I had a Blade CP starting out and flew it for a year.... it was fun as hell! Loved it but then wanted something better after relizing there was better. In the end it's all about having fun and some can race a corvette and some can race a Ferarri. lm about to go have fun with my Mini-Titan.... probably the cheapest 450 class heli around.

Its funny how the guys on RC Groups are into the Logo 500 as it has way more votes.
Here, the Trex 500 has more votes.
I decided that I'm not gonna wait around anymore for the dumb game Align is playing with the release of their products. I'm getting a Logo 500 3D now to replace my Raptor e550. Maybe next summer 08 I'll think about the Trex 500 again, if its even out yet by then!!!

I wouldn't call the release of the Align 500 some game they are playing on the customers. Realize that R&D takes time and don't forget that people were waiting around for the Logo also.

I'm looking for an affordable Lepton. Hopefully the Trex 500 will be there.

I had a Blade CP starting out and flew it for a year....
Sorry to hear that, I only had mine for three months and upgraded to a T450SA, still have the blade cp, get it working a while ago, I was able to hover it for a whole 10mins - wow!!!
Not quite a M3, but every time it goes in for a service, I could pay my mortgage for two months, About to change it for a Volvo, baby car seat don't fit well!!
I haven't had a close look at the Logo but the plastic thing don't turn me on, can't they put some carbon firber to dress it up, oh and some metal head and tail, but I have heard it's very durable. The T500 takes my vote.

Yea, the Logo don't have any nice bling. I think they do have some carbon upgrades for the other editions of Logo. Like on my Raptor, I made it look very sharp with some extra bling
I guess maybe the way Logo see's it is that they put all thier effort in a well thought out design for a rocket ship, than designing bling for it. I hope they come up with some good upgrades in the future though.
I'll keep my Raptor e550 airframe for a bit just in case I get too turned off by an semi-ugly looking logo. I ain't no 3D chapion of anysorts, so I guess full performance for me is not an issue yet.

guys do yo want to look at your heli or fly it?
The logo is plastic, but it is also light, very light, you have a pick one up to believe it. They fly incredibly well too. Take a look at the IRCHA video, and you will see how much of a difference that weight makes.
Logos are great helis, they do not get my vote cause they are expensive, parts are pricey too.
Align has done a good job making great helis, reasonably priced parts, and good supply lines. For that, vot t500.
If money was no object I would go logo... If I crashed less often then I do, I might go logo... but right now for me its align all the way.

The Logo are more then meet the eye.... it's no ordinary plastic frame on it, and.... Love my Logo, on this i couldnt care less about blings, it's a raw power beast :fly:bad

I finally decided to get neither. I ended up getting a Knight 50 3D Nitro!!!!

Another reason they couldn't call it T-Rex 425 is they already screwed it up with the 450. Stupid people would think they are buying a smaller heli:hammer
Pinecone

How did they screw it up??
Align names by MOTOR size, not blade size, just like nitro helis. The 600 just happens to have both match.
Just like Logo used to name by number of cells, which is really bizarre to me.

Yes, but stupid and uneducated people(like me) would think they're buying a heli by blade size.

In what way would a carbon frame be an upgrade on the New Generation Logos ?

He didn't say CF frame, just said carbon upgrades.
One thing I was hoping for on the Logo 5003D are upgraded blade grips and tail case in aluminum. I saw the following picture from the JAX fun-fly with an upgraded tail case and wondered who makes it.
