In what way would a carbon frame be an upgrade on the New Generation Logos ?
If they can make very strong carbon frames, it would be a good upgrade option. Two guys I know already cracked the bottom of thier Logo 500 3D frames made out of plastic.

Carbon is brittle, it cracks in a crash also. The Align 600 has carbon frames, as does the Logo 14, I have seen both helis crash and they break frames. The Raptor E550 has alum. frames, as you know they just bend in a crash. Making a frame stronger would make the heli heavier as well. Yes it would be great to have a heli not crack frames in a crash but we have to accept this part of the hobby.
One thing you can do to lessen the chance of frame damage is to replace the metal bolts holding the skids to the frame with nylon bolts.
I never hear plankers complain when they put their plank in that the airframe broke apart in a crash. They pretty much know things are going to break when it goes in. But being around heli pilots for awhile now I'm amazed that they expect the frames to hold up no matter what. lol
You guys are just going to have to accept the fact that things break in crashes. :P

The thicker the carbon fiber, the more resistant to breakage it is. Also, single piece is better than stacked for impact resistance. Design also has a lot to do with it.
Aluminum isn't better - hard to get it anywhere near close to normal after a crash where it bends.

On my 450 I don't cinch the screws down at all that hold on the landing gear, in fact only a couple of threads are in. In a crash the gorilla gear hold up fine and a screw or two sometimes pops away from the frame, leaving it undamaged.

I hear ya Tic , i used to do plankers for years till i got into heli's , same here when i go to my LHS , everyone wants a machine that won't break... the stronger you make something the heavier it's going to be and then the breaking point will be somewhere else...

Fact of life, helis crash. It still amazes me how well my T-Rex holds up in a full speed lawn-dart. Almost all but the trainer planks would be destroyed. I think Align has designed a heli with a good balance of strength and weight. Parts are cheap too.

Well I got a Knight 50 3D Nitro now that I hear has frames that hold up really good in crashes, not that I care to find out anytime soon. The frames are made out of G10, unlike my Raptor e550 that were aluminum and plastic. I only crashed my Raptor 3 times ever, in which one was a lockout with a very bad crash and the frames survived each time.

Well I saw you crash it at Arbor and you bent the hell out of the frames so I would call that surviving....

yea, that was my 3rd and last crash. Frames bent a bit, but they got very easily bent back, luckily. :)

Those were easily bent back too. If you look at it now, you'd never know it's been in a crash amazingly.

He didn't say CF frame, just said carbon upgrades.
One thing I was hoping for on the Logo 5003D are upgraded blade grips and tail case in aluminum. I saw the following picture from the JAX fun-fly with an upgraded tail case and wondered who makes it.

It's Swift's CNC tail.

This is why my vote goes to the Trex 500. I have had 3 hard crashes and frame is perfect still. A friend has the Logo 500 had 3 power outages all with hard landing and frames broke each time. Another friend has a Logo 600 and crashed it hard on dirt that cost $250 dollars to fix and it did not include the main blades.
Logos fly great but you better not crash or at least not so often.

The Logo500 is the better Heli but the cost from the 500 T-Rex are way cheaper:nanabobo and bye the way rex and Logo are 2 different sizes:thumbup:
