View Full Version : Vibration Problem

I have been chasing down an annoying vibration in one of my Stratuses Strati (?). I have checked everything, balanced everything, and measured everything. The only thing I've been able to come up with is that one of the spacers provided with the new solid dampeners is slightly larger than the other. My caliper isn't calibrated, but the measurements taken with it are .68mm for the small one and .72mm for the large one. I know its only .05mm, but do you think that's enough to give my machine a little shake. My other Stratus is as smooth as silk.

Thanks,

Bob

Hi,

Are you talking about the "shims" that comes with the one-piece-dampers?
If so, I do not think 0.05mm at that diameter, and so close to the rotor center, can give any vib problems.....

Have you tried, to loosen up the engine base plate, and spool her up in hover.
Land her, lift it up with the hand, and tighten the baseplate agian, without "twisten" the heli/frames......

I did have some vibs problems with both my statusses, and the above trick removed it:thumbup:

Yes, those are the ones I'm talking about. I also think that it is unlikely that such a small difference would cause a problem, but at this point I'm looking for anything.

I haven't tried spinning up the engine with the base plate loose. Thanks for the suggestion, I'll give it a try.

Hi,

just loose so it can hardly move,,,
Remember to demount all four screw, one of the times, afterwards, and glue them:shock:

let me know how it goes

The Vibraions could also come from bad engine tunning.......

Knud,
Thanks for the suggestion. I finally got a chance to try it today and it helped a lot. Heli is now very smooth.
