View Full Version : BAD TekPower!

Tonight, whilst charging a pair of 4S EVOLITE packs on my Cellpro 4s chargers, they suddenly started warbling. I look over, saw some error code, heard the fan on my TekPower 30A PS on high, then saw sparks out the back of one of my Cellpro chargers.

I turned everything off, then tried things on a different PS. Both Cellpros are dead - one will only give Error Code 28 over and over, and the other one won't even come on anymore.

SUCK! :arggg:

So, does anyone know if a) FMA might repair them, b) have any ideas what might have happened, and c) know any good, and terribly reliable 30+A power supplies I could find, quick?

Worst of all, I just sold off my 10A PS, and it's headed in the mail tomorrow.

Both packs appear OK, but it's hard to tell for sure until I get some more checking done. Fortunately, my TP-1010 was shut off at the time, and is working fine.

Well, at least I'm not having trouble staying awake anymore!

Well, it doesn't appear that the failures of the two Cellpros saved the packs entirely. On my TP-1010/210, they show cell 1 at 0.136 low on one, and 0.146 low on the other - that is, lower than the other cells.

Not sure if this lends any clues as to what might have happened. At this point, I think I'm going to hit up Radio Shack and get one of their 15A power supplies I know they have in stock. That should drive my TP-1010 for the time being.

SO depressing, and probably lucky...

EDIT: a couple more notes:
1) the fuse on the PS didn't pop
2) the 30A fuse on the integy 12V power strip in the middle also didn't pop
3) suddenly, ozone doesn't smell so nice
