OK, so I'm almost done with my first attempt at a photofield. I have a descent looking pano imported and I have added many colision objects from the existing objects such as depth buffer trees, poles, etc. Here is the problem. My field is in a recessed retension basin (common flying sites in Arizona) and so the main field is "walled" by berms rising out at about a 30 degree bank angle and maybe 15' tall. Unfortunately there is nothing all that close in shape and size to approximate these walls. I have used the small house depth buffer and scalled it to 5000% and dropped it in the Z axis by over 700m to get just the top of the roof protruding and long enough to cover the whole berm lengthwise. This actually works fine, BUT I fear it is just a waste using such a huge object burried under the ground and I wonder if it may be slowing the sim down.
SO is there any easy way to make simple objects and import them? I use Pro-Engineer at work and can export any number of 3D formats to use for this purpose, but it sounds like the knifeedge converter only works with 3DS max which I don't have.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
-Chris
