I'm sure that I could go through and search the posts on the individual topic but...Tell me this...IN ONE thread...

Raptor 60 with OS 70 Motor...
Temp you like to keep engine at
Pitches for nice Light 3D
Blade RPMs for nice 3D
And typical Gyro settings for this heli and a 601 Gyro...

This is just totally new as All we have flown are 50 Sized Helis...

Thanks in Advance,
Jeff

you may find alot of useful info on www.raptortechnique.com (http://www.raptortechnique.com) hope this helps

if you've flown 50 size heli's you should be able to figure that stuff out fairly easily since alot of it is in the heli manual. (pitch settings). Gyro settings no one can tell u b/c we dont know what headspeed you'll be running, engine tuning, blades, tail servo ball position.

there are way to many variables to list for us to give u all those answers.

but here's what i used when I had my raptor 60 w/ a os 70szh

engine tuning = whatever gets the results your looking at (tune it the same way as u did a 50)
+/-11 degrees of pitch
1800- 1850 head speed

OK, first off I run my 50's at 2000 to 2100, I KNOW thats not right for a 90 sized heli. For this reason I created this post. If I had the money to destroy a helicopter because I wanted to easily figure this out, I would have not created this post. I made this post because I don't know the settings for a 70 powered 90 sized Heli...Is this hard to understand??? Can't afford to just assume on this heli because everything is REALLY alot more expensive...As far as the Gyro setting go, I was just curious as to the gain of the gyro since the heli seems to be a little more sluggish and the tail doesn't seem to have as much control as a 50 sized helicopter. I have been told if you run the gain to high, the servo will suffer. I run most of my helis at around 30-35 on gain. ON this helicopter, having to run the gain at around 45 to get it to hold. As far as the engine goes and the temperature. I run my 50's at around 200-220 and it Generates pretty good power...I was just asking this to get a ballpark of where to run this type of engine as noone else around here has this setup. If I get GREAT power on my 50 Hypers the head is around 240, and I need to replace the bearings every few gallons....I don't want to have to do that. So this is why I asked. I'm sure like I said all this info is out there on different posts, but I was just being a little lazy. Thanks for ur help though. Gonna set it up at 1800 - 1850 and see if the gyro holds any better...

Well, as far as HS it depends which pinion/gear combo you have, but look at the engines specs. (which RPM's gives the most torque) and then divide that number by your gear ratio and that gives you the best HS.
As far as Gyro (not sure on the 601but..) normally is the highest gain you can have without your tail hunting.
Temp. I use the finger method (so I guess is the same for the .50)
Pitch as said above I managed to get +11-11 but it does bog the head when you wack the stick.
Just take this with a grain of salt since I'm quite a newbie, but I read a lot;) (may be too much, I think it's time to quit reading and start burning more fuel)

I think when the headspeed is like invertmast said alot of the gyro issues will go away. I also think it will have more of a Pop...It is kinda suprising the power that it does have and I think the headspeed was around 1700 last time it was flown. Again thanks for the help.
