I am currently using a less than optimal spot. Where do you other foamie junkies store them? Thanks in advance for the info!!

Will...I usually make a little hook and imbed it my foam....Or you could glue it on. I then use the hook and hang them on the wall...Takes up NO space and they are nice to look at too. If you need some info on how I do it let me know.

Here they are...
Remember those metal pins that (my momma anyway) put in the curtains to hang them on the curtain rod. Kinda shaped like a "Z" Same concept.
The other angled part is burried in the foam. I make a small hole and and hot glue it in. Thumb tack and rubber band and you have new aeronautical wall art.

Hey, family comes first, but I would like to meet you in person. I hope you will decide to make B'ham. Looks like a lot of folks are gonna be there!

BTW, I love your warped checkerboard on the wing tips of the first plane you posted. How did you do that?

Here hows I store my foamies. This is the infamous "Foamy Graveyard" in the shop. There are many others that have been thrown away.......

Dang James, looks like you have been doing a lot of foamy flying and crashing???

yeah, I build a foamy a week. But each of them get tons of flights on them. Alot of flying in between customers, haha.

James is the Integrity R&D department for any foamie...James you forgot the pic of the graveyard of unrepareables in the corner.

Rob...
The checkerboard is pretty simple. Just wavy Lines...Like this.

I printed out 2 sheets of this pattern on cardstock. Obviously 1 for White and the other for Black. Then I went through and cut out all the black squares and on the second sheet the white squares...the trick is to leave enough material to keep the corners connected. Then I just airbrushed the respective colors over each stencil. James pointed me to some solit plastic stencil making sheets in the craft section at WalMart...Ill probably use that next time as a more permanant stencil since the card stock tends to warp a little with the wet paint.

Here is how I got my foamies to stop cluttering every nook and cranny in my house... i had seen people make nifty PVC stands for their planes, and that's what I had intended to do, but after visiting the hardware store and pricing the parts I would need to hang up just a couple of my planes, It was looking pretty pricey, plus I would need wall space to hang them, or floor space to set them, which I just don't have, not to mention that PVC is kinda overkill for storing a 12 ounce plane! So after some brain racking, I had an epiphany..... Once I came too, I was off to the hardware store again, I got 2 5" turnbuckles, some wall hooks, and a 50 foot spool of aluminum wire, all of this came in under $10 ($1.50 each for the turnbuckles, $2.50 for the wire, and $2.00 for the hooks) You don't have to use aluminum wire, but That's what I chose because its easy to work with and cut, it is also easier than steel wire to get straight because its so bendable. It has a 30 pound breaking strength, which is plenty for my foamies, plus it wont ever rust like steel could.

Materials:
3/16" x 5 3/4" aluminum turnbuckle (x2)
wall hooks (x4)
50 foot spool of 18 gauge aluminum wire

Its super simple to set up. First pick a suitable location. Put the 4 hooks in the wall, 2 on each wall opposite each other, they don't have to be perfectly opposite, just make sure you don't get them too close to the wall that runs parallel to them, or your wings will hit it . Try to get them in studs if you can, I used a studfinder and got 3 into studs but the 4th somehow missed ... the hook was secure anyhow (I couldn't pull it out) so i left it. you will need 2 pieces of wire for each set of hooks, 1 short and one long. The short piece connects between one wall and the turnbuckle, the long piece between the turnbuckle and the other wall. Make the short but first, then extend the turnbuckle to almost its longest, and attach the long wire to the turnbuckle, and stretch it across the room to the opposite hook, don't worry if its a bit loose at this point, get it just long enough so you can get the loop onto the hook without too much effort. Then once that's done, turn the turnbuckle till the wire is straight, don't go overboard here we aren't going to be doing any tightrope walking so it doesn't have to be super tight, just tight enough that the bends in the wire disappear. Repeat for the other set of hooks, and your done! I could describe it too you all day, but you know what they say, a picture says a thousand words It took all of 10 min to put this up, and the hardest part was screwing the hooks into the wall.

That's 4 foamies that are no longer sitting on beds, tables, dressers, or the floor, and Ive got room for one more.... Unfortunately (or is that fortunately?) I have more planes, so I'm going to have to make another set somewhere, but at under $10, its no sweat.

I also had more repair due to in-proper storing then from crashing.
A picture from my bedroom (my wife gets crazy).

On the second picture you can see part of a door.
Behind there I store the larger birds.

I just use shelf brackets in my garage. They're mighty cheap at Home Depot, install them far enough apart for your planes' wings. I don't even put the pipe insulation on them, as they don't gouge up the foam unless you're rough with the planes.
