Hi All,
Apologies if this is an over-asked question, but I'm hoping to purchase a Trex600 electric to attempt some aerial photography, with a Canon A640 or 650 to snap the pics. This heli seems like a popular choice, and I'm already flying a couple of T450SE's, so I'm happy with Align's products.

My questions are:

Is there a link/thread that covers the basics?
Is this a decent combo to get started with?
Is the stock 600 up to the task with the extra weight of the camera (like the Canon), etc?
Can one achieve commerical quality images with this basic set-up?
What are the best mounting options?
What camera modifications are necessary to take pics at will, as opposed to shooting at random?

Thanks very much for any advice.

The stock 600 will work fine. The only argument against it is the 6s power set up. Some are more inclined for a 10s set up. I am running the 6s, and it works fine for me. The nice thing about a stock Trex is parts availability, cheap parts, easy build, no modifications necessary. Sort of plug and play.

The Askman will work good under the Trex. I had one for a while, and opted for a custom front mount (personal choice).

You can build a remote servo trigger for your shutter, or buy one of the many remote electronic shutter releases.

There are lots of threads that cover this, but some time in front of the computer will be required. Good luck.

Thanks for the insights. Have you any pics you could post showing your set-up? I'm curious about the mount. Most of the videos I've seen are very shakey or full of vibration. I'm more interested in getting good still shots as opposed to video. It would be nice to "rubber mount" the camera some how. Do you have a remote trigger that fires the shutter from your Tx?

As much as I hate to state it or recommend it due to the owners personality. ( I guess I am not really recommending it, you make the decision yourself), but if you're already set on a Trex 600, this combo does not seem like a bad price to me.

You make the decision. I know that the mount is actually a very nice mount.
