When data says its one mile from the air field this means its still in the park. Also most of the campsites are beautiful and offer some great fishing right out your trailer. I know this because Ive camped there with my family. They also offer sporting clays and skeet in the same park also about one mile away. Oh they also have mountain bike trails, jet ski lake, Swimming for the kids , Its a great place for family's

Bring those Mini-Motorcycles as the park is littered with them, this way you can get back and forth pretty quickly....

Or just rely on your Nike's!

Great! That was going to be my next question. Some parks have banned them. Glad to hear we can bring 'em!! :badair: :badair:

please disregard what was said by mhf.
you can NOT drive any unregistered vehicle in the park.
I have no idea where they ever littered the park, since they were always banned at markham park.
sorry, no mini motorcycles.

 Now this guy is focused on his helis for sure!

For several months those mini-motos have been all over the park down here especcially on the weekends. Looks like one more thing to take away from people having fun!

Oh well!

Also, be sure that you have channel flags for your transmitters or the Park Rangers will throw you out. They run the airfield like a military camp down here! :?

The park and the safety officers follow the AMA rules, which include channel flags.
The military camp comment is quite an over statement.

I know the channel flag requirment use to be in the AMA safety code and rules a few years ago.

Could you point me to where that requirement is in the AMA rulebook or Safety Code now?

I go to many events a year. I don't use channel numbers or a ribbon on the antenna. Even the IRCHA Jamboree that is held at the AMA National flying site does not require channel numbers.

If that is the case at Markham Park. I would think the Safety Officers will need to have plenty of channel flags for the event. I know a lot ( probably the majority) of the attendees for the event will not have channel flags.

OK Mike.

In all my years of flying at Markham Park, no one has been thrown out of the park due to the absence of Flags or numbers; MHF was the one who made those inflamatory comments.

In a recent Park meeting an additional emphasis was made with respect to the display of the flags and channel numbers. Data is a safety officer of the Park and being members of BCHPA (MHF is not a member of BCHPA), we are attempting to follow his lead and defer to his guidance in this matter. Personally, I do not see the need for the flags nor channel numbers; however out of respect for Data, and being "upstanding citizens" of the "Park" I will do my best to abide by the Park rules.

Having said that, let me reiterate that no heli pilot has been thrown out of the Park due to the absence of flags or channel numbers.

Mike, take your personal problems somewhere else. Your comments here suggests a hostile atmosphere at Markham Park for heli flyers, which is not the case. Clearly you want some type of engagement, but please; there is a place and time for this.

Let's talk helis.

 MHF, IS NOT A MEMBER OF BCHPA..OOOHHH NOW I SEE!!
from the look of some of the early posts we could see why..

just to clear this up.
The park authoritys have come up with that rule, believing that it is an ama rule and have asked us (safety officers) to make sure everybody complies with that rule.
I have been in contact with Mr. Steve Kaluf from the ama and was told that it used to be a rule and now has been taken off and is now (and I quote Mr. Steve Kaluf) "a strong suggestion".
until the park officials change this we just have to follow those rules set by them and I will certainly bring this up at the next park meeting.
on a second note:
this would never be a problem at a funfly, since all radios will be impounded and every pilot flying will get a pin with the channel number displayed until he/she is done flying, at which point he/she will return the radio with the channel number to make it available to someone else.
we all want one thing, we want to have fun and we want to be save while we 're having fun.

Gail and I just made campground reservations. Will, are you not bringing your camper? How about you Clint? Can't stay by the flightline, but it's close enough. Definitely closer and cheaper than a hotel.

Dude, what in God's name are you talking about? I don't know about you but I am here for helis and helis only. As far as some "personal problems" or an "engagement" is concerned I think your way off base here. As far as BCHPA members following rules, what are you trying to say??? That the majority of the pilots that do fly at Markham Park are NOT MEMBERS of BCHPA and that they don't follow the rules???

I don't think that there was any implication of Markham Park being a hostile enviroment. I was just mearly stating the rules of the park and you can take that however you may.

With all that said, this event is going to be great without a doubt!

Hey Will, didn't you used to live by Markharm Park some years ago???

Mike,

Let these guys have their event and stop dogging them please. I am not sure what you are trying to accomplish. The event is going to be a good one, and people will be attending and having fun in the heat. Us northerners (NC) will be bringing our Ez-Ups for a little shade. :glasses2:

I lived in Ivanho between Griffin and Sterling off 75, about 5-10 minutes away from the park. My wife built that house there and we had it for 8 years. Really looking forward to driving back through the area, it has been 8 years since I have been down there.
