Can I run the stock tial motor with the brushless setup, or will it not hold?
would be better off with a direct drive or double tail? thanks. jeff

Sure you can, the stock tail never really "Holds" well , but for a cheap POS its ok.

I would try to put the least amount of money possible into the cpp if I were you, trust me there. You'll want something bigger eventually

Totally agree. It's not worth the installation and futzing to get it working properly.
As someone who over-invested in his Blade CP, I can tell you that there are better helicopter options out there.
I've attached a picture of my Blade CP that was parted out on EBay. They're fun, but not worth any serious investment of money.

Hopefully you already have a HH gyro - that is the first upgrade that I would suggest...especially since a good one can be put on a more capable heli...
The stock tail holds ok with a BL main, but will still wear out.
If you are going to upgrade the BCPP: for under $100 you can go BL on both the main and tail - do both at once and be done with it.

Yeah, the amount of cash you have to put into the CPP to make it a really good heli is just about the same as it is to buy a Rex450se including the electronics and gyro. If you are like me and just want to see what can milked out of a small CPP than go right ahead. In the end you will have a little heli that actually flies really well.
The only way (that I know) to solve the tail issues is to change the tail over to belt drive. I think if you get the 370 and keep an 8t pinion on it or keep your throttle curves low you should be fine with the stock tail. The tail will still suck but it should hold.
