Hey Guys, I have a raptor 60 v1 that I am working on getting going. A piece of advice I got was to get the latest version head for sure as well as white gears for the tail. The head that I found to replace the old one has the metal cups with O-ring dampners which originated from helipros I believe. When I installed the head and inserted the spindle shaft, its obviously a good deal too long to work. :arggg:
Can someone tell me if getting the V2 spindle will solve this problem?
No one mentioned the spindle on the v1 being longer but hopefully someone can clear this up for me.

The v2 spindle is 118.45x7.85mm.

The V1 and V2 spindles are the same and there is no difference in the head. Get the white gears and if you have trouble with your one-way bearing locking up you'll need to get the new bearing. Also, some of the 2mm self tapping screws that came with the early V1s were too short. These are the screws that hold the link balls on the main blade grips and all the other link balls on the head, mixers and wash-out arms. It's been so long ago I can't remember all the differences and I can't find my list, but those are the major ones.
I don't know why your spindle is too long. Do you have the manual? Carbon Extreme makes excellent dampeners to replace the cup and "O" ring mod. I'm using the relatively new red 80 durometer dampers with two shim washers between the grips and the dampener in a stock head with good results. If you can't sort out you problems with the head let me know, I've built a ton of these things.

thanks for the replies guys...not sure where the extra length is coming from other than the old black stock dampners looked to have a "step" that protrudes out of the head and now there is nothing to take thats place
Do you have the the spacers/thick washers on each side between the head block and the blade grips?

Jon,
After a pm from Crazy Horse I believe he doesn't have the shim washers that come with the "O" ring mod from Rick's.

Ahh okie, I can't count the number of times I forgot those things and got everything back together only to see them sitting on the table/carpet :D
