To complement LithiumStatic's nice build thread I thought I'd shoot off a few videos for those of you curious to see what the bits are like - Bob tells me he'll be doing a 500 build video soon also and much relevant info can be gained from watching Bob's Logo 14 thread

Nice job John..... Just some video tips for ya.

1) use manual focus so it isn't popping in and out of focus.
2) if your camera has lighting control try setting it for DIM lighting mode and the video will be brighter.

Anyway good work man! I plan to do a series on the 500 very soon!

Good points Bob  Sadly my usual JVC vid camera died about 3 months after purchase and my wife's Sony handbag sized videocam doesn't have a manual focus :( - I'll have a go at the exposure though !

Well if you dont have exposure control either then if you using windows movie maker, you can add a video effect that will brighten the video... You can add it more than once too if just once doesn't brighten it enough. however it does add to the compression time.

Added in main grips and gear assembly - rest of rotor head should be up tonight !

Thank you for the tips on the flybar see-saw. I will disassemble mine and do as you suggest sanding it on a flat piece of glass or granit. Very good idea.

Well she's all assembled - apart from the Radix 600's to go on and had a test fire of the Jazz 10-55-32 and Z80A-800 last night - amazing how the frame swallows up all the wiring and that big hole in the middle waiting battery - should have a maiden flight today !

Videos been delayed - my normal camera went down and had to use the wife's - wasn't happy with the quality so have to reshoot the head setup.

Well 1st hover today (http://video.helifreak.com/?subpath=mercuriell&filename=1sthover.wmv)(5MB wmv) - all seemed well on spool up so off we went !! Very sensitive on collective. Got up to 2150 HS on 75% throttle with FP 10S 3300 on Z80A-800 with a JAzz 10-55-32. RTF weight 3428g with canopy - bit more than I expected but I can tell this thing is gonna rocket and so quiet !!!

Just a touch tail heavy so I'm gonna slide the lipo forward 2cm.

SHould get some FF vids tomorrow

Can wait to get the rest of my stuff in next week.

What is your collective range? You could definitely see it was tail heavy.

Your post says 2350rpm on head at 75%, your video said 2150rpm at 75%, so curious which was it and what pinion for that headspeed? At 75% with that kv that HS you bring up 2150 seems on the low side for certain, here are the theoretical numbers given with 4% drag at 75% gov. I gotta ask, did you calibrate the throttle to your full range of stick?
If your HS is around the 2300-2350 at 75% I am more in belief of that for certain.

RPM at low load: 2480 at 38 volt RPM at medium load: 2317 at 34,4 volt RPM at full load: 2153 at 33 volt

Hey give us a break Shaun ! - very first hover out of the box so don't get too technical with me :) - correct rpm was 2150 and this was at a flat curve on idle up of 75% measured with a Sky Tach optical tacho (by my wife) - this was with a 13t pinion and 153t/0.7 main gear- Mr Mels HS calculator gives: (http://www.dacsa.net/heli/Calculator/default.aspx)

RPM at low load: 2440 at 37 volt RPM at medium load: 2275 at 33,4 volt RPM at full load: 2110 at 32 volt

So I think the measured HS not unreasonable (without knowing the intricacies of the Jazz ESC) - there's not a lot on setting up the Jazz - as far as throttle range calibration is concerned I assume it does that when you enter in Full stick to select the options (4 for heli mode and 9 for lipos in my case) - if there is another way to program this I'd love to hear it from you. I'll fix up my FDR for FF so I hope to get a lot more info in the next few days but for now I'm just enjoying the thrill of it without getting too obsessed (yet) with crunching numbers

Just wanted to make sure for the sake of anyone else considering your motor setup etc that the information was correct was all, Not my intention to get all techical or bust your ballz at all actually, :). Anyhow good to hear you are liking it, I am pretty anxious to get mine as well and have been following all the build threads and vids.

Just about done now - posted rotor setup tonight pretty easy for anyone familiar with head setup so no great epiphanies here !! Just have to do final comments and we're done - till Bob's 500 build !! :noteworthy

Ended up +12°/-12° and 6° on cyclic which makes it quite lively with that HS compared to the stock T600

Got my good video camera back AT LAST and shot the final installment on the build with notes on canopy mounts, batteries and couple of points on the flybar - now I've built 500 and 600 wanna build another and shoot a better set of build videos !!! Any Aussie want one built ? :) or maybe have to get into the V scene !

Anyway looking forward to Bob's L500 build videos which should come out soon after he's finished playing with the T500

I keep thinking the Logo 500 will be the shortest build series yet. Then he'll get to the V-Bar and proceed to create the longest one...

Vstabi would be a mini series, invloving several translations and ways to do the same thing:shock: lol. Sorry couldn't resist!
