I have worked with OS engines for a long time but this is a first for me.

I was running my OS Hyperhead in my new Align 600N for the first time. Everything went fine for the first 1/2 tank of fuel. Shortly after that the engine came to an abrupt stop. Examining it I found it was completely siezed. I pulled it apart and found a 3.88 mm button head screw wedged between the connecting rod and the engine case. I dont reconize it as an engine part. The engine seemed to perform fine after I removed the FOD. If anyone has an idea, please inform me.

Sorry something is preventing me from posting a photo.

Sounds like either a stripped / undersized M4 (nominal major D=4mm) or #8 (nominal major D= 4.165mm) Could it be a cooling shroud fastener?

Every time a get a new engine, I take it apart to see if anything was left inside the engine. I have been using OS Max engine for a long time, ( flying planks ), and found FOD in some of the engine. If the engine is running fine now, okay, but I would go over the engine and the muffler to see if anything is missing.

Just my two cents!!
