eSky Softdog for Walkera

I have purchased an eSky Softdog adapter for my Walkera helicopter controler to use on the FMS simulator. I am not able to get my computer/simulator to recognize the remote when it's plugged in. Windows installs the drivers with no problem, but I get no response out of the remote when I try to calibrate it or use it with the simulator. Is this cable not compatable with the Walkera remote? Is there something I am missing that could make this work?
