Hi guys, as the title says, i have a choice of using a single 6S battery with 4900mah or use 2 2500mah batteries. They are both going to be flightpower batteries, so my question is which one will be better for my setup? My heli is going to be a hurricane 550 electric, and i was wondering if i connected the 2 3S 2500mah batteries together, would i effectively be making a 6S 5000mah battery???? This question is because i would like to know which one would have a longer flight time for my hurricane? I'm just hovering at the moment, havent gotten the hang of anything so 3D is out for the time being.
THANKS everybody! regards
Matt
P.S. I'm in australia and 2 3S 2500mah evo lites are $220, whereas the 6S 4900mah is $300.

Hey Poor_Noob. It would take 4 of those packs. You would need to set to in parallel and 2 in series. 2 would give you 5000 and then 2 sets of those would then give you the 6s required. From what I was told, it is a pain. If you got the packs already, I would say go for it with a charger that can charge 4 pks at a time. Otherwise, just buy a 6S 5000mah pack which you can get for around 250.00 or less. ~Finsta

thanks for the reply finsta, but i'm wondering now how much time i may get in a hurricane 550 :) Is there any advantage at all for having a 6s 4900mah pack as opposed to a series connected 2500mah pack? Would i get longer flight times?
thanx

Matt

If you series connect the two 2500 3s you will get a 6s at 2500. Mah is mah, you will get about half the flight time of the 6s 4900.
As stated earlier you would have to connect four 3s 2500 to get the same capacity. Two sets of two connected in series giving you two 6s 2500 then connect those two in parallel giving you the 6s 5000.

poor-noob you cannot fit a 6s 4900mAh pack on a Hurricane550 and get it to balance. A 6s 2500 solution from 2 x 3s 2500 in series is a popular setup. For longer flight times you can go as high as 2 x 3s 3300 with some brands and it will still fit inside the canopy and balance nicely.
You can get a variety of battery solutions that suit an H550 from www.unitedhobbies.com at great prices:
2 x 3s 2200 20c/30c, 101x34x25mm, 183g @ USD$30 each
2 x 3s 2500 20c/30c, 139x48x20mm, 209g @ USD$33 each
2 x 3s 3200 15c/25c, 136x43x23mm, 281g, @ USD$50 each
I would suggest you consider these alternatives instead of 6s 4900 which won't work on an H550 anyway.

thanx everyone for your responses. Clearly the 6S 4900mah flightpowers are out of the question then :( DARN, just as they were getting "cheap" lol

Just buy a 600 heli for them. :).
