I know this is mainly a US site but you dont seem to mention Esky helis much, are they not sold in America?
I was wondering if anyone had any experience of the Belt CP as I am thinking of buying one. They also do one called a King II (I think) which apparently shares a lot of parts with the belt CP.
As far as I know they both have belt driven tails and are 6ch collective pitch, but does anyone know what the main differences are or if you have a preference.

Thanks
I'm from the UK and this is my first post so go easy lol

Esky is sold here, but it tends to get overshadowed by Align products. The T-rex seems to be considered the mainstream leader due to the market being flooded with Align products and the overall quality of those products. Esky isn't a bad product, just not as high performance as the companies you see discussed on the US forums. A lot of people seem to end up with Align products after using other products, some just skip right to the Align products because of other peoples positive experience with that company. I wouldn't let that disuade you from getting an Esky product, but you'll probably end up going Align eventually.

The nearest hobby shop to me (an hour away) has never heard of Esky, but they have Align out the wazoo. In their defense, they only recently have started stocking heli gear, they were mainly boat, airplane, and car.

Since you are in the UK, have you visited Heliguy.com at all? I like that site, it is UK based, it was the first site I ever visited when I started this great hobby, and I still go there. The Freak is a great site as well, with lots of informative people, and the Finless vids are as necessary as air when it comes to anything helicopter.

I know this site is an amazing resource. My ultimate aim would be to get a Trex eventually but I was hoping to cut my teeth on the Esky Belt CP.

The thing is only today I have seen a guy selling a Trex 450 for £210 ($420) RTF with Futaba tx. Even if it needs some fixing regardless of model that seems a very tempting bargain to me. Plus from what I read the Trex's arent that bad for beginners and spares and info is plentiful.
If I can contact this guy and meet him at the weekend I will probably buy that if it is still available. If not I can get a Mini Pred (updated uk version of the Falcon 3d apparently) for £180 ($360) RTF.

Decisions....decisions...

Hi, I'm Mark from Yorkshire- UK. I just wanted to advise you to go for a brandnew T-REX.
If you want to buy a 450, try the latest which is the SE V2. You pay £320.00 for it but it really worth spending on this cute bird.

Good luck

Jackal,

I sold my Belt CP and used the money to go with a Mini Titan. The MT is a much better heli IMHO, and is very comparably priced. You should give it a look over the Belt CP as an alternative to the T-Rex.

Cheers guys, I think I am definitely edging towards the bigger outlay and just gritting my teeth.
I know the 450 SE v2 is known as the best all round package but my tight gene is kicking in and stopping me shelling out 500 in one go (even though I have a nitro touring car that cost me the same when i first got into nitro).
I'm from the Birmingham area, do any of you know of the cheapestplace to buy a RTF Trex? I love my impulse buys so I like to see it and take it home in my hands.

As a side note have any of you seen the Century GL450, Midlands Helicoptors are doing it RTF with case for 320. It does look quite sexy with CNC and carbon.....

One thing you might consider is waiting till the reviews come in on the E-Flight 400. It should be hitting the hobby stores later this month. Hobby stores here will be selling them for around $469. The real up side to this heli may be the Spectrum DX6i radio that comes with it.

Good Luck

Don't forget about the cheaper Trex 450S, gives a great heli at a bit lower price than the V2.

GL450 appears to be a good heli as it has borrowed the design ideas and characteristics from the T-REX. Just make sure the guys in Hinckley can supply parts and spares in future.
The Align UK formulates a fixed price list to the dealers around the country. The maximum price difference would be around +/- £3.99 from one shop to another.
However you can get good deals on T-REX450S as it is going to be dominated by the SE V2. and one more thing, just be noted that some shops owners are a bit naughty ! hence you need to check the content of the boxes!!
What they call it a fair deal or great deal etc only works toward their higher benefit. I recommend being specific about what exactly you buy. Gyro is a very important part and I haven't come across any dealer who throws a 401,, for example, in a "good deal" package!!
By the way, I like the idea of taking it home yourself

Have fun,
Mark

I own a Belt CP before and I am flying a King 2 now (in addition to my Trex SE, Mini Titan).

Belt CP is about the size of Trex 450 (maybe Belt CP slightly longer), however, King 2 is smaller in size. I feel that King 2 is a good beginner heli because it is cheaper and smaller. Quality of both, I believe is not as good as Trex 450. I think they are cheap and reasonable quality heli to start off RC heli.

After much deliberation and reading forums, I think I am going to go with a Trex 450S Carbon frame (comes with the 430L motor and 35 ESC and Futaba 2.4Ghz radio (better in the long run than an RTF Tx). Along with Lipo, charger and Gyro I am looking at around 500 (or whatever deal I can get).
The 450S will be the kit so I can have some fun putting it all together and hopefully know it is set up properly.

I've decided that I would just be dreaming of a Trex anyway if I went ahead and got the Belt CP or Mini Pred. Plus the quality and availability of spares and upgrades is brilliant. Half the fun is building these things so I felt I should just go ahead and treat myself and spend some of my hard earned. Plus I have a fair bit of nitro and computer stuff I should really sell on eBay which should cover most of the cost lol

My name is Carl and I am an RC addict......there I feel much better now lol
