Hi all, just go Phoenix, I'm new to heli, built my Trex SE V2, tried RADD, found it hard,
now trying this sim.

How do I best learn to hover.
Also been trying the hover training, and find that the tail wags alot, how do i fix this, do i reduce the gain in the DX7 or in the software.
Thanks

There are two main things you have to do when setting up a DX7 for Phoenix:

1. Define a model with a 1-servo swash.

2. Calibrate the sticks in the sim with all endpoints set to +/-100% in the DX7 (the minimum and maximum points on the pitch and throttle curves must also be at 0 and 100, respectively, during calibration).

Assuming you've already done that and you haven't messed with any of the heli parameters in the sim, you may be inadvertently pushing the left stick right or left when you're managing the collective. It's a common newbie mistake that's only corrected through practice.

When I first started with my Diablo, the heli was swinging all over the place when I was trying to hover. I did about the same in the sim. After only a few weeks, I was able to pretty much hold it in one place. The truth of the matter is that RC helicopter flying is hard, requiring you to multitask with your two hands and your eyes. You have to retrain your brain and muscles; to quote Yoda, "you must unlearn what you have learned." Generally, the older you are when you start, the more difficult it will be because you're more set in your ways.

RADD works well with smaller fixed pitch helis such as eSky 4. I am not sure it is a good fit for agressive helis such as Trex.

Thanks for the help.

So does the gyro sensitivity in the radio have any effect in the game.
Thanks again.

If you are really new to helis you may wish to try this:

Assuming you have your controller working correctly.

Go to this (http://www.phoenix-sim.com/downloads.htm) download page and get the Blade CX helicopter. Install it and use it to learn hover and orientation. The CX is really easy to fly, both in real life and on the sim.

Once you are comfortable with the CX, try the easyFly50 in the Training folder. Progress from there.

To fend off boredom, connect to one of the many servers and fly with some other pilots. Trust me, no one cares if you crash every few minutes. They are doing their own thing.
