I got back into planks with my son last Christmas after a 20yr break. All EP planes. Then when I started helis, around June, I noticed I didn't feel comfortable flying it up high. I stayed low as I did with my EP planes.
One of the guys at our club had a 32 sports trainer (low wing) that he didn't want anymore so I acquired it. I put a tuned pipe on it and the sucker really screams. Naturally I flew it much higher and faster than the EP planes.
Then when flying the heli, I noticed the same thing. FFF way up high suddenly seemed so easy and comfortable. Like night and day. This in the course of the last month or so (shortly after getting the 32 plank).
If you fly planes, and are new to helis you might find this helps.

I think I know what you mean.
It maybe the realization that if a plank crashes it's going to be near total destruction v.s. replacing a few bolt on parts for a heli.
I only say that after getting back into planks in the past month and have noticed that I get the nervous shakes while flying the plank and calm as can be (and doing a better job) hovering my 450 now.

Thats all we do to planes these days too. You have to really try hard to find a decent BIY plank kit these days.

:lolol That's like telling a car buff that he/she didn't build their car.
Either way, I was referring to the time and effort of scratch building wood parts v.s. pre-made parts (Even though in the end it would probably end up costing close to the same).

Nobody is "Self Made!" Only those that brag of success will claim they are self made and take the accolades that belong to others! The truly successful will never admit to it.

Yeah, I guess your right. All the drug addicts, murderers, thieves, etc... are just a byproduct of society making them into who they are or what they do instead of the choices they have made. :arggg: Just like all the R/C (and full scale) pilots/drivers that can control those machines like it's second nature. And that's not counting the small business owners/skilled workers that built this country.
Now politics, that's an other story.:bawl
