Too nice an afternoon to work, so I went out to solo my 600n. With the field to myself, I decided to just go for it.
Had a really good first solo flight, sucked the tank dry at around 6 minutes.
Then during the 2nd flight I decided to start flicking some switches. Gyro into NR... okay, gyro back to HH. Flight-mode in to Idle-Up 1... okay, back to normal. Throttle-Hold to On... and then back to Off. No dramas!
Did notice a little drift in HH, not as much as in NR though.
More concerning, I was able to pay attention to the oscillations resulting from the use of the training gear. Makes me wonder whether I should attach then firmly using zip-ties or more loosely using rubber bands (that came with the training gear)?
Great feeling, though, 2 solo flights and no bent machinery!

When I used gear, they moved a slight bit. I would think that minor movement is relatively normal considering all the "activity" going on.

I'm not going to trim the legs on my training gear, as I took them off for the last 2 flights today. I've had 5 flights with my 600n now!
Wow... another buzz with more adrenaline... are you sure this isn't illegal http://www.rcheliaddict.co.uk/testvb/images/smilies/wink.gif

I always fly HH mode , if your set up right you should have no drift in HH mode, I think most people just leave it in HH
I cant comment on the training gear as I never used it..

What radio and gyro are you using and what are your setting?
Training gear, I used tie wraps as the rubber bands move around a bit and can break causing a problem when you try to land as the training gear will be just hanging under the heli and you then have to try and land, not fun when you first start out.

Just poke holes in the balls on the end of the training gear.
The downwash is trying to push them down, then they will bounce up and down.
With holes in the balls, it won't do that.

I'm using a DX7 with a 401/9254 combination, with the Gear switch to toggle between HH & NR. The Limit pot is around 120, and the Delay pot is 0; DS is On obviously. The servo arm is 10.5mm.
One of the much more experienced flyers at the field test flew it and upped by gear channel end point adjustment from 50 to 85. It has a great deal more authority now.
The balls at the end of the training gear aren't balls, they're wheels and hubs that look like balls (HT product). But, I've taken them off now anyway thanks and am managing better without them :)
thanks,
Mac

ps. Next steps will be tuning the curves from the manual defaults, as there's a significant amount of overspeeding in Idle-Up 1 during moderate descents. Only after that will I be looking to activate the ATG governor.
Thoroughly enjoying the whole build, maintain and fly experience more than I did with planes (all I wanted to do with them was go fly and do running repairs as necessary).
