This topic is for Mercuriell to post his Logo 600 build videos!

Thanks John!

Feel free to edit this up as you like. I love what you have done with the first post in your 600 build vids :)

Thanks Bob - Worth noting folks that many parts of the Logo 600 are the same as the Logo 14 - tail slider - tail hub and I think much of the rotor head so much valuable info can be gained from checking out Bob's Logo 14 thread (http://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=22766):)

Great, I was waiting for vids on this heli.

John, compared to the Trex 600CF, how does the quality compare ???

That's a very interesting question - the mouldings are very good quality and well thought out - the blade grips for instance are huge and really well reinforced, the feathering shaft is chunkier and the flybar 4mm as opposed to 3mm. I think the quality of parts is better say 9/10 compared to the T600 7/10 - the gear wheel mouldings are very substantial and well produced. The engineering is rather more elegant - double herringbone main gear, double radial/thrust bearing tail rotor, ball links at the end of the boom braces and the frame is really well thought out so I'd have to give it a big  - but I love the T600s too !

What do you think about the flybar being 4mm instead of 3mm when the other parts of the head are plastic? It seems that the flybar could destroy more of the head in a crash since it will transfer more destructive energy into other parts.

I guess that's true but the job of the flybar is act as a rigid bidirectional strut between paddle and mixer arm so I assume thicker is better from a functional point of view - designers of model helis, like cars have to trade off durability against function and fashion - the Logo ethos seems to be to put the latter two first!

just a question, but i was wondering if someone would ever do a build video on the vbar system on any of the logos. i know its very expensive to get but i think many people will want to see it done, including myself :) just a suggestion

Does the 3mm flybar seem less rigid on the Trex600?

I don't know if Bob's getting a V-Bar with his L500 - I'll probably get one eventually but wanted to see what the stock machine was like as this is my first Logo.

Yes the T600 3mm flybar seems very flimsy by comparison with the Logos 4mm version

OK tonight we put up a modded Frame video with comment to highlight that the bearing mount M2.5 x 10 bolts are TOO SHORT to safely engage the Nylock nuts - you need to get some 12mm ones or else Loctite them.

Also put up the servo installation - quite straightforward and no real probs - just mount the elevator servo first so you can get at the output arm through the left aileron servo hole.

Put up the rotor head setup - pretty starightforward and the ball link lengths come out as per manual except for the servo to swash links which might be expected to vary - also posted 1st FF (http://video.helifreak.com/?subpath=mercuriell&filename=L6001stFF.wmv)and hover (http://video.helifreak.com/?subpath=mercuriell&filename=1sthover.wmv) in the Build Thread

Thanks for all the info. The videos are great!

I was just wondering if anyone could tell me the best way of stretching the L600 to accomodate 690mm blades? ie. what would I need?

Cheers,
Griffo

Send a PM to N74DV he will have the boom and belt info you need.

I love them both - I like the gutsy, tough, simple design of the T600 and I love the floaty, soaring, effortless grace of the LOGO 600 - they're both great helis and I think it a shame that many Mikado acolytes look down on and badmouth the old T600 !!!

I hereby hang my head in shame... :noteworthy

There's a reason I'm still hanging on to the T-Rex 600 even though I have a Logo. They're both still a blast to fly!

Hey John - good on yer buddy - I know how hard it was to admit that - don't worry though - your secret's safe here - most Mikado owners are way too superior to worry about watching build videos :nanabobo

Last video finally added in on frame completion - canopy - batteries and couple of points on the head - no need to ease up the big ball links on the flybar - they do it themselves and the ball link on the flybar cage doesn't dig into the plastic or protrude if you're real careful about tightening it !

So, on my 500 3D, the instructions on p. 17 seem to indicate that there is no canopy spacer and cap used. I don't seem to have received those parts, either.

So, yours is a 500 DX?

I found the instructions for the canopy mounts very hard to figure out ! Now you mention it reference to p17 does seem to indicate no canopy spacers used in the 600DX or 5003DE canopies - which doesn't seem to make much sense when you look at the canopy shapes - also in the 6003D pic it shows two sets of standoffs (M3x8 and M3x30) but only one illustrated on the frame pic!

My own kit was supposed to be 5003D (and that was checked on the outside) but had a whole lot of 500DX parts inside :arggg: which I had to change and in some cases improvise to turn out the 3D version - anyway I did install the standoff and it seems to go well with the 5003D canopy - more support the better methinks !

Agreed. I do note that it being held only by the front ridge on the canopy has led to some cracking there. I don't know where to get all the bits to do that, however.

Good bit of education and comparative anatomy in your video. Thanks!

John
