So I just traded my old DX6 for an F-27C Stryker. Now I have something that I can dogfight with some friends or just go for a relaxing flight after the helis. Haven't flown it yet because of the weather but hopefully I don't destroy the thing on maiden.

Anyone have any suggestions on whether to set up dual rates or not. Maybe some good numbers to start off wtih. I don't run DR on my helis and this is my first plane so i'm just trying to feel it out.

Relaxing flight? You're kidding right?!? :)

Have you seen one of those things? They go like hell.

$100 on the line is a lot more relaxing than $1500 with spinning blades of death on the line.. I know what you mean though. My buddy has a 6S Stryker that absolutely screams.

I have 2 Strykers and they are so much fun! They do fly fast, but they also glide extremely well.

We use lipo batteries and cut a vent in the battery compartment. With that and a hopped up Slow Stick that takes off in about a foot and a half I would say its much more relaxing than the helis.

To answer your question though...I don't use dual rates. The only thing that isn't stock is the batteries.

I'll be running my 3s lipos from my Trex. So full throws shouldn't be too squirly?

Nah, full throws are doable. You might want to try it on the low rates first to get a feel for the roll rate.

I bought one new about 4 months ago. I had the brushed stryker about 2 years ago, figured this one would be the same which it was but faster(which I expected).

At the end of the maiden, I hit our town's water tower at full bore...

I DO know the water tower was empty, as it made a nice hollow-sounding gong. I couldn't find the lipo till I saw a column of smoke rising up from the grass about 40 feet away:)

I hear ya there. I've [mostly] gotten over the jitters w/ my 50, but it's still nice to throw something around that is lower risk, but I think the slow-flyer 3d foamies serve that purpose more for me.

The Stryker was pretty much what got me into the hobby. I learned on one (the original brushed before the B and C came out) about 6 years ago and have since rebuilt it with a brushless setup. The delta wings to me are easier to fly than a damn v-tail park flier that responds to input 30 seconds after receiving it. I want things to go where I point 'em.

It's a fun plane. Like others said, just use low rates until you get used to it. Also, I usually trim in quite a bit of up elevator for launching. Just crank the throttle and throw it straight ahead like a paper airplane or something. Might be better to have someone else launch the first time as you have to get on the sticks pretty quickly :smokin:.
