Hi,I think i may have my tail servo set wrong.
When the heli is tail in when i push my stick left my tail moves left. and when i push the stick right the tail moves right.
Can someone confirm that this is wrong or right.
I have read that i should look at the front of the heli while hovering tail in and if the head moves left i move the tail stick right.
That would mean that looking at the tail, when i move my tail stick right the tail should move left.
Can someone tell me clearly which way it should turn,
Thanks.

The way you have it set up now is not really wrong. Most pilots fly the nose thou.
Move stick left and nose of heli goes left, right stick and nose right.
There is also some pilots that fly the tail, stick left and tail left, stick right and tail right.
Really no right or wrong way, just the way that works best for you.

I think, to keep you from getting confused in the future...You should fly the nose. Right stick-nose right...left stick-nose left....Real Full scale airplanes and helis are set up this way. They both have R & L Rudder pedals. Push on the R pedal with the R foot and the heli/plane rotates to the Right and vise versa. From your description above...All you should have to do is reverse the Gyro. Hope that helps.

Hi,If most people fly left stick to move nose left i think i will change.
It means that the last three months i have been on the simulator and the few times hovering will have to be relearnt.
I have just gone on the sim after reversing my tail servo and i was all over the place.
I will give it a night to see if i can get used to it.
Thanks for your reply,Brian.

Dont be discouraged but it might take you a little longer than a night to get used to it. Dont worry thought take your time and it will come to you. What sim are you flying? I may have a suggestion for you.

Brian,
Personally if I was you I would just continue to fly the way you have already learned. There is no right or wrong way to learn to fly.
There is pilots that fly the tail. I know one of the USA F3C Team pilots that flies the tail.
I know of a couple of pilots that have the cyclic where if the heli is nose in, when they push the cyclic stick to the right the heli goes to their right. They learned to hover nose in so the they have the cyclics reversed to what most fly.
I have met pilots thru the years that pull the collective stick down for throttle and positive pitch.
So really there is no wrong or right way. Pilots fly the way they learn to fly.
I suggest you continue on with the way you have already started.

If you look at all the set up manuels for the heli's that are out there you will find the set up to be the same and that is where you fly the nose, left stick, nose left etc. As if it were full scale and you were in it. Alan

If you have a sim that lets you fly the heli in the cockpit or chase view....and you were going to relearn how to fly it...use those features on the sim. Technically it doesnt really matter like David said cause no matter what way you have it set up the controls are going to be reversed one way or the other nose in or tail in.
Personally, I like mine set up realisticly. :dontknow
Also...you may want to contact some of the local guys...see how they have there rudder set up. That might help in your decision. Hate to see you hand them a heli to test for you with it reversed. :wow2:
David...hows your heli set up?

I'm flying FMS simulator, which was a free download but i have got on well with it.
The reason i think i will change are two fold.
1,Real flyers tend to fly the nose.
2,If i do let someone test my heli they should be able to fly it.
But it is going to be the first question i ask them.
"Do you fly the tail or the nose"
Because what happens if you fly the nose and then someone who fly's the tail has a go  .
If most people fly the nose i will do that.
I had a few hours on the sim last night and it was getting there.
Quite funny really when you think, when i was nose in i had to imagine reversing the reverse, reversely  :D
The heli's tail servo is reversed now so i will fly by the nose from now on.(well I'm hovering at the moment)
Thanks for all your input,Brian.

Brian...
reversing the reverse,reversely
I would assume that someone experienced should be able to correct it enough to land it or before they even get off the ground even. But... for them to test it out or fly it they would have to reverse the servo in the radio....
I was thinking about this last night too... If Im correct, when you buddy box with someone you have to have the exact same "model" program in their TX as in yours...so when the take over nothing is changed. Again...if Im correct, if you learned to fly the tail and then wanted to buddy box... you would also have to find someone who flies the tail in order for you to buddy box.
I had to relearn nose in when I started....Practiced on the Sim for 3 months, got my heli flew it in all directions and then got with someone to help set it up correctly. They then had me work on orientation and flying a box tail in. I was so nervous to turn it nose in that it took me about 3 more mos to do so. Once you move on to different hovering view..nose, side, tail. Keep working on them and dont stop and linger on just one...
