So, I've got the latest RC Heli magazine, and plastered all over the article is them using an AirThunder 6S 5000mAh pack. There are even pictures of it inside the frame.
Now, I've got the 500 and a few of the AT packs, but sort of some major frame surgery, there's no way it's going in there.
Does anyone know what they did to get them inside?

Look closeley those are 5s5000mah packs. The 6s AT's won't fit in the 500's frame.

Is there really no way to fit 6s5000's in them?

Well, it does fit in the hole in the front of the frames, but here's a photo of the real problem. Note the pinion...

Is the CG right in that picture? If so why not glue a piece of plywood between the pack and pinion?

No, the CG would be way off that way. The pack needs to go much further back. The FP 6S 5000mAh packs which fit under the pinion go in until they're nearly flush with the front, and that way, the CG is great. The canopy also wouldn't fit on that way.
I just stuck it in that way for illustration purposes...

Thanks, that means I won't be buying a Logo since I have 3 AT packs already.

Don't worry, the FlightPower 6S 5000mAh packs fit great, and I'm sure they'll make enough for you to get some too ;)
This bird makes the investment worthwhile. I'm still stunned how much more agile and powerful (and tunable!) my 500 is than my T-Rex 600.
