Hi,
Well, the weather was good so I decided to take my new Zap out to a local football pitch (no one there) and give it a go. It flew really well! The previous night, I had reset my pitch/collective linkage, so needed to reprogram my pitch curve on the RD6000, but only programed the normal flight mode and left idle up at the original settings (because i forgot).

Well, when I flicked the switch in flight, the bird shot up like it had been kicked up the arse, my heart was pumping at this point. Well, I flicked the switch back and got her down safely.

I then noticed before taking off again that the tail input gear was showing a bit of wear (not completely stripped), not sure weather the striped gear was due to flicking the flight mode switch or the fact that i was taking off from grass, as the tips of my tail rotor blades are green

so i chanced it and took off. About 30 seconds later, the gear striped and the bird started pirroetting (sp?) about 3 feet off the ground. I tried to get her down smoothly as i could. I damaged the blades, bent the main shaft and broke the landing gear. Also the bits on the main frame where the landing gear screws onto are snapped, but i hope to fix that (£32 for a new frame!!!) Couldn't beleive that I escaped a crash with the idle up problem, then went and crashed after prewarning! My fault.

The moral of this is that if you notice anything even slightly wrong with the heli, DONT FLY!!!!!! Me and my wallet are learning the hard way I guess

Im not too upset as I enjoy doing matainance work on this thing probably more then flying. Plus I have now ordered some like90 blades, and the hardened steel main sharft.

Well, here are a few pics below of the damage.

Hi,
If you think the hardened steel main sharft will not bend, think again. I bent a normal one and a steel one. I ordered a new steel one because of the pieces that are left out for the little screws.
