wtb hover info please

Hi all.

i bought the real flight G3 1 week ago, and ive been trying like 2 hrs evryday, and i still cannot hover. AWWWWW OMG :bomb:

i cannot keep the @#$$ heli in one place. :arggg:
Ok i had read read and read.but i still dont understand much.

can any1 tell me what the #1,2,4,5 stick do?
and to hover a heli we need to play with the joystick #6 only? when the heli is at like 3 feet up the ground?

and i guess i need lot's of practice on this sim b4 i can even think about the real thing? ( omg my Thunder tiger .60 is inc next week !)

Sticks 3 and 6 control the direction that the helicopter goes. What they do exactly depends on which mode your interlink is. Typically in the US/Canada we fly mode 2.

Assuming you are using mode 2 and the helicopter is upright with tail pointed toward you, nose away...


Stick 3 up/down makes the helicopter move up/down.
Stick 3 left/right makes the helicopter spin nose left/nose right.
Stick 6 up/down makes the helicopter lean foreward/backward.
Stick 6 left/right makes the helicopter lean left/right.


Switch 1 is called the idle up or flight mode switch. I will skip what it does for now. Just leave it in the position furthest away from you.

Switch 2 is the dual-rates switch. By default it makes the controls more/less sensitive. You will probably want the switch toward you when you are learning.

Switch 5 is the throttle hold switch. With all but one of the helicopters in G3, this will bring the engine to an idle when you pull it towards you. This is used for practicing autorotations. Just leave it in the position furthest away from you for now.

The dial, 5 in your picture, isn't used for anything with helicopters right now. In the future it might be used to control retracts, adjust the rotor speed, or whatever.

There is no heli instructor pilot in the G3 at the moment. Only instructor for higher lvl ( 3D n stuff)

Try using the bell H-13. Put the dual rates (switch 2) down. Put the Idle up (switch 1) in the middle. Spin the tail toward you when your still on the ground. On the lift up on stick 3. Move stick 3 left on right to keep the tail toward you. Use stick right - left to lean the heli, and forward to tilt the nose down back to pull the nose up. You have to anticipate the corrections before the heli goes in that direction.

The huey is nice and easy and so is the bell 222.

I have been using G3 for about 2 months and just hovered a real heli last weekend for the first time. Keep it up and you'll get there. :mrgreen:

wow another person with the same problem . i cant hover eather i can fly around do flips and rolls but cant stop very well . i can crash did i mention that ... :glasses: . my question is . is there a place i can go on the web for more info about flying on this sim to help me or is posting here the best i may get im just looking for somthing to read and maybe help me out . im very exited i got my g3 2 days ago its driving my gf nuts. im using her laptop. seems to work ok .any info guys would be great.

when you run g3 dont play it like a video game. If you can fly around and flip upside down and everything but you cant hover, you need to stop and just try to hover and nothing else until you can hover everytime you try.When hovering in all directions is no longer a challenge then start flying in small slow figure 8's.
