All the attendees at the Central Alabama Helicopter event 3/18 -20 will be able to examine the new offering from MA. It is going to be on display at the event this weekend. Tim and Chris from MA will be here displaying it along with other items.

Wow!! I can see some Spectra G design similarities. Cool! I wonder it will be the Toledo show.

looks like a cross between a spectra and an ion. Does it take the ion canopy?

Don't forget to have lots of pictures for us who can't see it in person...

I like this design much better than the Fury EX. I never liked the fuel tank so far forward of the CG on the Fury. I would have waited for this design instead of buying my Ex, if I had have known about it. Anyone want a brand new Fury EX never flown? :-)

Curt, Post it for sale... it'll sell! :D
Keep in mind, the new machine will be bleeding edge tech. Trust me, being on the bleeding edge is not fun (my Spectra bit me pretty bad when the t/r push rod broke). I wish I had waited.

Looks like a nice bird. Interesting to see that MA might be trying to keep the price down by using the aluminum boom and a lower parts count. Also nice to see that they have decided to keep things closer to the mainshaft for better CG.

The machine will also be offered as a conversion for the Extreme and Tempest 3D so if you have either of these, you'll be able to convert them pretty easily.

Any clue what the convertion will cost for the fury ex?

Ok now MA is starting to tweak my buttons...

This looks like a 90% clone of the Spectra frame set...The similarities are shocking to me.

So if I can convert my Extreme to a new "Extreme" why can't I convert my Extreme to a Spectra????

Come on guys I have a 800.00 airframe here that isn't worth do do on the used market right now that is begging to become a Gasser...

Other than that I like the new design and think it will be a great addition.

How about some pics of the right side. By the pics it looks like things can go up a little higher. I like how the rx and battery are now shoved in much clloser. Having everything out back should make the canopy much slimmer also. maybe a modified ion canopy or a totaly new one.

Could a viper-head be used with this new layout? Is access to the second plug easier now? I like how the old engine mount was removed. How much weight was saved by doing that? I would like to see it with a new canopy. Something that is light, thin, and sweet looking. Also I noticed that the servo studs and servo supports are missing.

as compared to a g-10 fury expert, this model weighs almost a full pound less.

You can check out more pics and some information on my site at www.EricLarsonRC.com. The servo supports and some stuff was not on the model displayed at Bham.

Dear Eric
could you tell me if the fan is the same used on a Fury or Tempest?
When do you think this kit will be available to buy?
Thank you for your help

All of the mechanics are the same as they are very robust and work well. The changes involve a completely new frame design and layout, resulting in a new helicopter. The main advantages are less weight, better C.G., easier maintenance, and stiffer frames that all result in a better flying helicopter.

I believe frame conversion kits should be selling in the stores for around $300. Full kits should be available in around 1 to 2 months.

Hope that helps,

hi eric, great video.
any idea what the conversion kit includes?
since the regular extreme carbon frame is available for $130.00, I wonder what would make the conversion go all the way to $300.00

Well here is a link to Ricks and the frame conversion for the Tempist in carbon is $214. http://www.ronlund.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=heli&Product_Code=CX12-01-004S&Category_Code=CX

I know this convertion will have to include all of the new spacers, bearing blocks, standoffs, and quite a few other things. It is not just a couple pieces of carbon, but a complete convertion including new hardware that is also the correct lengths for this setup.

Anyway, price could vary some depending on the retailer. Retail is $329. Not sure if that makes it easier to understand the pricing, but I just fly them..... I rely on the pro's down at MinAir to build the best heli's :)
