View Full Version : Mad to buy a 600N ?

So I'm looking for the next heli to build after putting my Trex450 together, changing it many times, crashing, getting control blah blah

So I figure a 600 is a great next step for me. Thing is, I don't know anybody close to me that is into heli's and both of my LHS aren't that helpful. My local club is not taking new members so I have got everything from forums (mostly this one!)

Am I mad to consider building a 600 Nitro alone? A few websites recommend having people who can help set them up etc. How tough will it be without that? I would prefer to build a nitro - there's something special about a heli with an engine. I know it will be dirty, noisy etc. and more to learn having only built an elec.

Currently I have access to a couple of private fields to fly in so this is more a build and setup/maintenance worry.

Sorry if this has been discussed elsewhere - I couldnt find a thread about this. I would realy appreciate some advice before I take the plunge just in case I buy an expensive ornament!

I think if you have built a T-Rex 450 correctly you can do the work on a 600n. As long as you follow Finless Bob's videos!

Your close to me. I've been flying (hovering :p ) Nitro for about 7 years. Biggest difference is the fueling and starting method and that a Nitro will power up if the TX prechecks are missed (ie Low THR, Idle Ups inactive) unlike the ESC's nowdays which fail to init if they don't see a low THR command

I'm usually at Beaulieu every Sunday and some Saturdays if you want to come down and have a chat. I'm the one with the two flying wings + the helis in the back of a black Vauxhall Vivaro

Thanks Mark, sounds like a great plan! I guess being sure what I am getting myself into is the main thing. Having a chat would be brilliant. I'll come see you one Sunday, will message you first as otherwise no doubt I will pick the only Sunday you aren't there

Hi Mike

Yeah I joined the BMFA a while ago, seemed sensible. Thanks for the offer of help, nice to know I do have local help after all!

Well I took the plunge and bought the 600 Pro Nitro kit. It should come tomorrow. Now's a good time to regret the offer of help
