Has anyone tried to modify the FP V Balancer 6s balancer to charge 2x 3s lipos before? I would really appreciate it if anyone could give me some pointers to make it happen.

Use a pair of V-Balancers, do not modify a single, IMHO not safe and not worth the 45 dollar savings. With 2, then no problem doing 2 3s packs at once.

thanks for the concern WillJames but over these parts of the world it is almost 4 times what you are paying for yours and that most probably explains the DIY stuff we like to do.

Flight power has responded to me indicating this can be done without any alterations to the balancer and now I can charge 2 x 3s1p at one go.

WillJames

I have tested their recommendation and it works perfectly. This is how it is configured to charge 2x 3s1p lipos

Plug the 3s1p balancing leads to the 3s and 4s tab ( dunno why the 4s tab has only 3 red and 1 black lead like the 3s do)

The black power lead from the balancer goes to the first lipo's -ve connection and the red power lead from the balancer goes to the second lipos's +ve connection and charge as usual.

The first lipo indicated here is the one connected to the balance lead closest to the black power lead on the V balance.

Hope that helped WillJames.

This is very interesting.
Can you post a picture of this setup so that i can make sure how the wiring is done?
So if you charge two EVO25 2170 with this setup, do you set your charging current as 4.4A now? It should finish charging around 70mins ?

Thanks in advance,

I actually want to do this very setup...i have flightpower evolite 2500 3s 11.1v batteries. I want to buy two balancers and hook them up in a series. I have the Triton 2 charger. What would the settings have to be changed too...im guessing 5000mah and 22.2v on the charger? I don't want to ruin my batteries by setting it up wrong :(

Wow! I spoke to FP customer service this morning regarding this issue and was recommended two balancers. I've the same set up as yours but only have 1 V-Balancer right now. I was told to just charge them as if you were charging one battery because each balancer acts independently from the other balancer.

hmm interesting, so even though ill be using charging two batteries simultaneously with two balancers i should keep the battery settings on the Triton 2 the same: 2500mah and 11.1v ? And they will properly charge up independently?
