The motor ang gear ratios for both are very wide. What type of flying are you planning on doing?

The razor and Ion will not use the same motor. Battery packs will also need to be considered. Give us and Idea what you are looking for and we can give you some setups.

Also search this forum. There are lots of setups already posted.

The MA site has this (http://www.miniatureaircraftusa.com/Support/Instructions/xcell_razor_600e_power_systems_guide_current.pdf) power systems document for the Razor. It should help.

This is cut out of the document refereed to by the link (which works for me).

The following list details the recommended drive ratios for use with 10S packs.

Motor Recommended Drive Ratios
Koehler Actro 24-4 From 9.47 to 10:1
Neu 1515-2Y From 17.6 to 18.8:1
Hacker C50-15XL From 18.8 to 24:1
Kontronik Tango 45-08 From 13.5 to 16:1
Kontronik Tango 45-06 From 11 to 13:1
Hacker A50-14/16S 10 pole From 8 to 10:1

Note: The use of a motor with more than 10 magnetic poles will mandate the use of high
frequency ESC’s such as the HV series from Castle Creations.

I have a Razor. We have a Hacker A50-14S with 3700mAh (10s) batt packs with a ratio of 8.72:1. It will take ANYTHING you can throw at it!:dance
