I am in the middle of putting together my 5003D. Today I was going to cut the shaft down on my 1910/1Y and before I did I gave it a real good look over when I noticed that the back bearing inner race was dented. As I turned the motor shaft grease from inside the bearing began to come out. :(

This is my first NEU motor, and I am thinking maybe I ought to go with something else (like a Tango 45-10). For those with more experience with NEU motors, is this an odd occurrence? Is there quality normally better than this?

Thanks for replies.

I've owned a few NEU motors and loved them! No problems here.

I've got five of their motors, and haven't had any issues. I've also watched a few others who have had problems, and the company seems to do a good job resolving them. Give them a all, and I'll sure they'll get it fixed.

Thanks for the feedback guys, I plan to return it to the store I bought it from; he has always been good about dealing with these issues for his customers. I will stick with NEU and just get a replacement, sounds like I got a Friday afternoon motor :).

Only time I had any issues with bearings was when the motor temp was running in the 180-200F range. Once temps were where they should be, no issues.
