is the swift a better heli than a hurricane 550 carbon, as im deciding on buying one or the other, and im not quite sure which one to get, so how do they compare the hurricane i might get is carbon frame 1100kv motor and 75amp esc full metal head.and the swift i might buy is stock with a plastic frame?

I have had the Swift 16 for about two years now - about 150 flights and have used it with pinions for 4 cell flight, 5 cell flight and 6 cell flight. It does not matter how you configure it, it is a great flyer. Setting for slower head speed make it a great trainer. Setting it for high head speed makes it a hot 3D machine.

I got it because I really liked the rotor head design on the MinAir Fury & my current Predator Max. When I test flew a friend Swift, I noticed it had the same rotor head design (only smaller) and found it flew with the same positive attributes. It grooves in FFF, solid in the hover and is easily set up to be very responsive for 3D.

Another big plus is that parts are inexpensive and easy to come by.

I was impressed enough to get their bigger version (the Swift 550 Carbon). Hope to have it flying shortly. It is all assembled I am just waiting for the gyro. It looks very impressive.

I have both the Hurricane 550 and the Swift 16 both fly nice but i like the Swift alot better..

The century is the way to go but the Hurricane is alot cheaper.. If you get the Hurricane get the Upgrade 1500 Watt motor or run a century 600 + motor in mine.. worked nice

Hi Jack,

I got my Swift 16 in March and have 380 flights on it. I learned on it, and have also been doing 3D with it (loops, rolls, 540 stall turns, inverted, tic tocs, and more). It's a great flyer.

But what is even more amazing is how durable it is. I've got 380 flights on it and it's still going strong with no signs of wearing out. And the plastic frames are far more robust than I ever would have thought. The kit only cost $229!

If money is an issue, don't be afraid to go with the Swift 16. I'm running TP5000 batteries, 550 SAB blades, and 2100 governed headspeed (10 tooth pinion). The little Swift just keeps asking for more.

Keep 'em flying,

yeah i think the swift is looking like the machine i want rather than the hurricane 550 cf,its easier to get the parts for the swift, and loads of upgrades which i like. & now there is the swift carbon i think il buy that its £250 for the heli, and everythink else il have to buy seperate as the cf kit comes with nothing but the heli. and i like the look of it iv seen a Hacker A40-8L - 1300Kv motor which might be good for the carbon swift 550 with fp5000 6s1p should perform pritty good i hope
