Howdy fellas, it's my great pleasure to anounce the 1st Heli Funfly in the
Rochester, MN area!

WHEN? Saturday May 21st (2005) 9am to 4pm (or whenever)
(raindate of Sunday May 2nd (2005)

WHERE? http://www.marionrcflyers.org/Directions.php

WHO? Heli people, those who want to be heli people, and those that are and just don't know it yet!

My local club, the Marion RC Flyers of Rochester have agreed to reserve
the flying field for Saturday May 21st (rain date on Sunday May 2nd) for a
heli only funfly.

This event will be a low key good old time get together enjoying our
beautiful flying field.

Lunch will consist of grilled hot dogs, brats, burgers and beverages.

We will be operating a transmitter impound and requiring AMA membership.

There will be no fees associated with this get together. Lunch for pilots
will be provided gratis for attendance!

We will be operating two flight lines (one on the North/South runway, the
other on the East/West runway) with two pilot stations per flight line.
No matter where the sun is, you can have a comfortable place to fly!

The funfly starts at 9am with a pilot meeting at 10am (to cover field
rules etc). If you desire to fly prior to the 10am pilot meeting, we ask
that you follow the posted field rules and monitor the frequency board.

Directions to the field can be found at the following club web site link:
http://www.marionrcflyers.org/Directions.php

If you have any questions or concerns, let me know!

Fantastic! We are getting pretty excited about the event down here... We have two new heli flyers this year after they saw how fast and easy we set up for a day of flying vs their piecing together their big airplanes!

I started doin my first 180 sliding autos last week and didn't bust a single part! Man the power to weight of the rap 50's are really a good time.

Anyhow, lookin forward to seeing you down here on May 21st!

Regards,
Jake

Howdy fellas, I'm just posting to let you all know that we have NOT canceled the event and unless it's raining tomorrow morning (Sat), the fun fly is still ON! If tomorrow morning it's forcasting rain throughout the morning, then the Sunday raindate will be in effect.

If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know,

The fun fly concluded successfully today at 6:30pm. After the late start due to a morning shower, it cleared up pretty darn well and I myself had five good flights on the Rap50!

I'm grateful that we were able to show some of the local club members what a fantastic group of heli fliers we have in the area!

All of us from the Marion RC Flyers of Rochester would like to thank everyone who came out and ate our food :)

We have a couple more 'fun flys' scheduled this year (combo airplane/heli) that we'd like to extend open invitations for. (Details can be found on http://www.marionrcflyers.org)

So, with that said, our eyes are looking towards next year (later in the season) for another heli only gathering! I'll be soliciting thoughts on dates and anything else that we can do for another addition to a great line up of regional fun flys!

Thanks again Fellas,
Jake Wegman
