I just got new marivk blade grips for my heli and I have a stripped hex screw in one of them. Does anyone know of a good way to get it out.
I have heard that you can drilled them out, and I also heard that you can
this stuff called screwgrab that bonds the driver to the screw and allows you to get the screw out. Any suggestion or commets would be welcome.
My next move is to just buy some new ones. Thanks

I've had moderate success with using some JB Weld to "glue" a driver into the set screw. You have to let it set up for several days. Then apply some heat if there's any locktite on the screw.

Sometimes this method works, sometimes the JB Weld simply lets go. I've had just as much luck with drilling them out (you could also drill it out for a 4mm set screw if you bugger it up).

get a screw extractor set.

I personally have used a set similar to this one with good results.

I have a set of those screw extractors. I would've been better off using that money to just buy a new part!

They work okay on larger screws, but are essentially useless on something as small as a 3M set screw.

The way I get a stripped screw out is, take dremmel tool with the cutting wheel..and then cut a slice in the screw and that will turn it into a flat head...Then use a flat head screw driver to take it out...Take your time because you only get one shot...good luck.

What kind of wrench are you using? If you are using one of the kit supplied "L" hex wrenches it may be the wrench that has rounded and not that the screw is stripped. Try a quality hardened hex wrench, it may solve your problem.

Vice grips if it a hex head screw you can grab onto. Then replace. Bob also has a good idea about a non rounded off hex wrench

thanks for all the help guys, I drilled out the screw and everything is okay now. I am using a set of the team Losi hex head drivers. Next time I think I will use that dremel method that would have been easier than drilling out the screw. Happy Flying

for future reference, you can get valve lapping compound at your local parts house for a couple dollars. If you put some of this on the driver and stick it in the hole, the grit ofthe compound will more often than not remove the bolt.

Good idea. I'll have to pick some up so I'll be ready for the inevitable "next time".
