New Tail Blade Grips are now available from Bergen R/C.
The first thing you’ll notice is the black anodizing added to these grips. This will help differentiate the new ones from the old. The other difference is NOT so obvious.
With Malorie's and other pilots input, we have changed the angle of the arm to help the gyro and tail servo do the job of holding the tail. Simple explanation, centrifugal force is pulling the arm, eyelet, and shoulder bolt to a straight out position. The angle we have set is the neutral position for holding the tail still in a hover. So centrifugal force is HELPING to hold the tail still.
New Intrepid Gasser, EB, and Magnum kits will include these new grips as standard. Upgrades or replacements are sold with the radial bearings installed and new plastic links included. Part # is 232A and is $49.95 for the pair.

Sweet!! I should be getting back into the hobby full-force around the beginning of the year. I'll have to order a couple of sets!

I assume this would also benefit those of us with Observers?

Correct, they also work for the Observers and Turbine models.

Cool, I'll send you the ones from my unbuilt Observer kit for an exchange, then?
Do these get rid of that end play of the previous versions? If not, what is different aside from the anodizing?
Cheers,

The end play is the same. It's there for a reason.
Anyone install these yet on an Intrepid Gas with the older aluminum tail? Not the Magnum, but the pointed one before that.
I had to replace my grips so ordered the new ones but the measurements for trimming the special links are for the Magnum and Observer. Just wondering if there is a third measurment.
Sent a message to CB but he must be busy as I haven't heard anything back. Waiting for a pitch slider assembly as well so can't do any checking myself at this point.

Shayne,
Did you ever get a pitch slider?
Yes, I did Chris. Forgot about this thread.
I got your message about trimming the links and the tail is back together. I just got my new TRM motor in it and it's all setup. Will probably be able to try everything out next weekend. Short days means no flying after work, so weekends only. :)
I may end up having to get a Magnum tail gear box, and the necessary upgrade parts, if I have another crash. My understanding is the gears aren't available for the older style gearbox, or in short supply.

That's what I like about your models... the excellent quality of the machining. I need to sell something so I can get the turbine model!
